  1. >2600 voters ouf of what? 15,000 registered? Less than 2 percent. Pathetic. I’m happy with the results, but the apathy in this town is truly frightening and appalling.

  2. >I am unhappy with the vote. The reason it passed is because the taxes are driving out all of the elderly residents who made this town what it is and is being filled with people from New York bringing the same problems they left.

It is criminal to have taxes be so high that middle class people cannot afford to live here.

Cant wait for Corzines low income housing to get here. Then the “rich” can distribute their income to the “poor” and be happy about it.

  3. >I disagree. The reason the issue passed is because roughly 2000 people voted for the budget and roughly 1000 voted against it. If citizens, elderly and otherwise, felt motivated by your logic, certainly they would have exercised their right to vote. They failed to do so. The voters, and non-voters, deserve what they get. It’s not always a great deal, but it is fair.

  4. >When was the last time they updated the voter registration. I have had dead relatives in that book for over 10 years.

I am curious if they have been out to vote recently?

  5. >in new jersey its been known that dead people vote …

  6. >79.414.637 COME ON .HOW MUNCH DO THEY MAKE.WOW.

  7. >If you really think that raising taxes consistantly is fair, not demanding accountability from all public officials is fair then I give up. It is attitudes like yours that are driving me out of this town and this state. I will be leaving with my professional middle class job and will be giving my hard earned tax money to another state juristiction. I have lived in NJ my whole life and I cant stand it or afford it anymore.

Sheila Brogan said NJ is hostile to education then why are we paying and paying and paying and paying for it?

When I get to the end of the month and end up with more month than money I have to cut back or do without. Please do not tell me that there is no waste or fraud in the school budget. As Judge Judy says “Dont pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

As long as we accept like sheep that cost cannot be contained and that tax burdens are never too much, then you are correct, we get what we deserve.

  8. >I must admit I am extremely disappointed…what happened to all of the School Board critics? Oh come on now you all know who you are. Surely you remember the subject of discussion in August of last year titled Residents Speak Out on Academic Slide.

    See link https://theridgewoodblog.blogspot.com/2006_08_20_archive.html

I went to vote yesterday and I was shocked to see only two candidates running for the School Board! What happened to the critics i.e. James Rose, Whitefang, Dan the Man, Rufus T Firefly, Objects in the rear view mirror are behind you pjblogger and others? Is it possible you actually don’t have the answers to fix what you believe is (using a critics quote) “An 80 Million Dollar Failure”. Could it be that you only want to complain about things and you really don’t have the answers or nerve to try to fix them? I am so disappointed I was ready to vote for you!

    Your friendly Village Idiot …

public eduction is not the answer its the problem …

  10. >notice the amount of houses for sale in town perhaps they voted with there feet…

  11. >Yes, I have noticed the houses for sale. There are always homes for sale in every town. I have also noticed that those houses have been listed for sale, and selling, for well over $500,000.00 and up. Not bad considering that in the 1980s you could buy the average home in town for around $150,000.00. I guess some of the critics here would consider that a bad investment.

To the writer of the comment – public eduction is not the answer its the problem … Exactly what do you mean? (Oh by the way the correct spelling is education)

  12. >To Anononymous 7:52:

I was commenting on the voting process, which is a fair system inasmuch as every RW voter has the opportunity to voice their opinion through the voting booth. In this case, your side didn’t have enough support, so your choice is to move, I guess, or try and transform your way of thinking into the majority opinion.

  13. >Thanks comrade, I will let you know how the transformation goes when I get back from the reeducation camp.

I did think that I was still allowed to express my frustration and since this forum is one of the few left that I can express my frustration in, as opposed to the deaf ears it falls upon in the school board or the letters I have written to my legislators.

I think that opposed to “transforming” my thinking which implies the way I am currently thinking is incorrect, I
will move to an area where my kind of thinking is already in the majority.

It’s really sad to me that hard working people like me are leaving and only the very weathly and the government supported will be left in New Jersey. And until taxes are actually 50/60% will anyone notice the changes, or perhaps that was the plan of the “majority” all along……

  14. >that is cheep.

  15. >” I was shocked to see only two candidates running for the School Board!”…
yes and where was JohnnyMidnight ?
