I imagine a Taj Mahal money pit.

I imagine a Taj Mahal money pit.

The HS library was “re-imagined ” a few years ago.

Library has stats on how many people use their facilities. They should do a survey by an impartial outside company. How many RESIDENTS use the library each month? Each year? How many RESIDENTS have not used the library in the last month, in the last year? Their current numbers seem high. I wonder if they counted people walking through the door, using the bathroom, attending a children’s piano recital, browsing, checking out material, returning material, using conference rooms …. I need to see the survey.

I do not know many people who go to the library anymore. I have access to an online University Library. I also have a Kindle. I have driven through the parking lot and found no spots available while attempting a visit to Village Hall.

I thought the Elks Club was for the water department.

Murphy’s budget gimmick burns firefighters

Ridgewood NJ,  Gov. Phil Murphy’s plan to raid more than $30 million from a special fund dedicated to helping the state’s firefighters was condemned today by Assemblyman Kevin J. Rooney.

“Governor Murphy, once again, refuses to acknowledge New Jersey’s affordability crisis. Instead of cutting spending, Murphy’s budget relies on gimmicks that take funding away from our first responders,” said Rooney (R-Bergen). “Stealing from our firefighters does not create a ‘stronger and fairer New Jersey’’ Murphy should be cutting spending and saving taxpayer money.”

blogger meets turf

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, When the artificial turf was first installed several years ago, weren’t the residential neighbors (particularly residents of adjacent Meadowbrook Avenue) told that there would be NO permanent lights installed at Maple Field?

Parks & Recreation Director Nancy Bigos told Village Council Members on May 1st that she expected the field to be lit until 9:30 PM, 7 days each week.

Reader says,”There has always been a “turnover ” of residents but taxes will chase us out faster, and your taxes will go up exponentially”

realestate_forsale_theridgewoodblog

“I am contemplating retirement in a few years.
I am not rich, but I saved a few bucks and have no mortgage .
I actually like it here and lived in NJ all my life.
For those of us who do not have children in public schools (and never did) the biggest expense is the schools portion of the real estate tax.
If you want to keep us here to subsidize your kids, you better figure out a way to limit our tax increase.
If we leave, you can be certain our home will be purchased by a young family with children requiring an education
In the old days, many long time Ridgewood families stayed here for generations (and thanks to them it’s a nice town – before the vinyl siding and and lawn sign crowd moved here from NYC)
There has always been a “turnover ” of residents but taxes will chase us out faster, and your taxes will go up exponentially .
Residents with no kids in school get NOTHING in return while SUBSIDIZING those who do. “

Reader says ,”In the private sector, human resources departments routinely search social media sites of job applicants in order to ascertain whether or not they would be a “good fit” or “problematic”

snooki_jersey_shore_theridgewoodblog

“In the private sector, human resources departments routinely search social media sites of job applicants in order to ascertain whether or not they would be a “good fit” or “problematic” since much can be gained reading social media to determine someone’s attitudes , likes, dislikes etc.
Unfortunately when you are seeking employment in a municipality that operates under civil service rules, all that matters is your score on the tests .
I don’t think there is a reliable way to predict behavior, but what is a reasonable proposition is to have on going random drug testing of all cops, lawyers, judges , doctors , teachers and elected officials.
It’s already in place for employees of transportation industries .
If you have nothing to hide, there is no reason to object.”
