Fort lee NJ, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey welcomed five officers and their canines to the Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) K-9 unit in a graduation ceremony held today at Newark Liberty International Airport. Canines Mag, Bruce, Mimmo, Stuey and Amo were named in honor of fallen 9/11 PAPD officers.

New Proposed Regulations Would Allow NJ TRANSIT to Suspend Ridership Privileges for Individuals who Assault Transit Employees

Ridgewood NJ, in accordance with a new state law signed earlier this year, the NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors today approved the start of the process to enact new regulations designed to strengthen protections for transit workers.  The proposed regulations would establish a procedure by which NJ TRANSIT would be able to administratively suspend ridership privileges for individuals who assault transit employees while also creating due process for offenders to appeal proposed suspensions.

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today announced critical funding to expand access to safe transportation and enhance areas around public transit facilities across the state. The awards total more than $24 million across three programs as part of Governor Murphy’s Fiscal Year 2023 budget. Funding for the Local Aid and Economic Development Grants line-item increased by nearly 50% over the last fiscal year, representing the Murphy Administration’s commitment to a wide range of transportation options and smart, transit-oriented development.

Fort Lee NJ, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced today that Greg Ehrie, a 20-year veteran of the FBI will join the agency as its Chief Security Officer on Dec. 12, 2022. Ehrie’s FBI career involved stints as Special Agent in Charge of Intelligence at the New York field office and as Special Agent in Charge of its field office in Newark, N.J. Ehrie is currently the Chief Security Officer at the Anti-Defamation League.
