Increase State School Aid,Time for a Taxpayer Refund

Ridgewood NJ, the group administrator of the Facebook group ,”it takes a Ridgewood Village”  Saurabh Dani  offered the following information , ” Ridgewood is going to get 654,822$ more in state aid this year compared to last year – this is an increase of 16.9%.

To pay for this increased aid, the state is going to increase tolls, corporate tax and other state taxes, including income tax on many of Ridgewood residents. The state’s goal is to reduce property taxes with this added “aid / state tax increase”.

Our BOE has decided to use up the increase in state aid in their operating budget and not adjust this 655K towards proposed 2% increase of property tax.
Should the BOE reconsider it’s decision and reduce property tax increase of 2% and change it to “2% – minus- 654K”? “

Glen Rock NJ, a new proposal to unite the borough’s middle and high schools under one principal and add half a dozen other administrators .The plan, which would take effect at the beginning of the next school year, would appoint one person to lead grades 6 through 12 and approve the hire of up to five content-area supervisors during the next two years.

School officials say they could fund the extra staff within the state’s 2% school tax levy cap, which keeps districts from raising property taxes without seeking voter approval via a referendum or ballot question. The proposal was promoted as budget neutral.

The proposal has been met with resistance by some parents, teachers and former officials who said the district is barreling toward restructuring without considering the consequences.

GOP: Murphy’s 2021 budget is built on yet another income tax he’ll use to pay for his radical, liberal agenda

steinhardt2

By Doug Steinhardt

When I was in law school, I played piano at local piano bars to help support myself. I’ve always been a jazz music fan, and one of my favorite quotes is from jazz pianist Thelonious Monk, who said, “The piano ain’t got no wrong notes.”

I always thought that wisdom liberating. It reminds me there is no script for creating or problem solving. It’s also a great measure of self-accountability. If Monk’s quote taught me anything it’s that in life, I’m my only obstacle. I never blame the piano if the song doesn’t sound right.

Atlantic City NJ, Many sportsbooks have already been opened for New Jersey residents in the first few months of legal sports betting since June 2018 and more are scheduled in the near future. Hundreds of millions of dollars have already been won, and critically, the state of New Jersey has also collected plenty of revenue to assist in providing better services to the state’s residents.

NJ online Sports Betting Regulations allow for licensed state casinos and horse racing tracks to support land-based, mobile, and online sports wagering and prohibits casinos/racetracks that own a sports team from participation in sports betting. Limitations also exist for potential operators who may have a vested interest in a sports franchise.
