U.S. Department of Agriculture Gives Native American Tribes the GO for the Domestic Production of Hemp

Ridgewood NJ,the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved the first set of plans submitted by states and Indian tribes for the domestic production of hemp under the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program. The plans were submitted by the states of Louisiana, New Jersey, and Ohio, and the Flandreau Santee Sioux, Santa Rosa Cahuilla, and La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indian Tribes.

GLEN ROCK  NJ,  On Friday, December 20, 2019, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) was joined by Ope Sowore, the wife of Nigerian journalist Omoyele ‘Yele’ Sowore, in calling for an immediate resolution of Yele’s ongoing detention in Nigeria. Gottheimer has been working closely with the Sowore family and with the U.S. State Department since Yele was first detained to ensure he can be reunited with his wife and two young children in Haworth.

Hawthorne Police and Fire Respond To Sunday Evening Rollover

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne Fire Department Company #4 responded to an early Sunday evening, 12/15, rollover crash near 26 Lincoln Street, Hawthorne. The vehicle’s sole occupant, its adult female driver, self-extricated prior to the arrival of emergency responders and refused medical aid. A flatbed tow truck righted the Jeep SUV and towed it from the scene along with the parked Audi that it landed against. Police at the scene did not say whether any summonses would be issued.

ROSELAND NJ,  The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) Emerging Leaders Council delivered more than 6,600 pounds of food and supplies — the most donations ever — to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and local food banks throughout the state as part of its 10thannual Food Drive in November. This year’s food drive also featured an inaugural virtual component, in which a separate collection raised $2,028.

“The annual food drive is a great chance for those of us in the business world to provide some substantial help to those in our community who are less fortunate. Our support grows every year, and it is wonderful to be able to deliver aid to those in need,” said Katherine Zech, CPA, senior manager at PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP and leader of the Emerging Leaders Council.

West Milford Becomes First NJ Town To Declare Itself a 2A Sanctuary

West Milford NJ, West Milford is now a self-proclaimed “sanctuary township” for law-abiding gun owners, though the provocative designation is purely symbolic.

The township council approved last week a non-binding resolution that “opposes further interference with, or abridging of, the rights of lawful gun owners.”

Grewal today released new information regarding the shootings yesterday, December 10, in Jersey City, including the identities of the two shooters and the three innocent civilian victims who were killed inside the supermarket. The identity of the fallen Jersey City detective, Joseph Seals, 39, was released previously by the Jersey City Police Department.

Paramus NJ, A Bergen County, New Jersey, man today admitted participating in conspiracies to commit health care fraud and to bribe a doctor, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Eduard “Eddy” Shtindler, 36, of Paramus, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp in Trenton federal court to an information charging him with one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to pay illegal kickbacks to a doctor.

Newark NJ, A Georgia woman admitted using a National Basketball Association (NBA) player’s stolen identity to attempt to obtain a $2.5 million loan, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Annie M. Ford, 51, of Atlanta, Georgia, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Kevin McNulty to an indictment charging her with one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.
