Reader says Glen Rock is giving our Deputy Mayor lip service on the municipal garage project

“But at its meeting Wednesday night, Glen Rock’s council did not even mention the study, and took no such vote to fund its participation.”

It would appear Glen Rock is giving our Deputy Mayor lip service about this project. They’ll string us along until it’s too late and Ridgewood’s taxpayers wind up paying for everything.

Time to put the brakes on this particular train!

Tavis Smiley: ‘Black People Will Have Lost Ground in Every Single Economic Indicator’ Under Obama

PBS’s Tavis Smiley made a comment Thursday that every African-American as well as liberal media member should sit up and take notice.

Appearing on Fox News’s Hannity, Smiley said, “The data is going to indicate sadly that when the Obama administration is over, black people will have lost ground in every single leading economic indicator category” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

TSA Loudspeakers Threaten Travelers With Arrest For Joking About Security

TSA Loudspeakers Threaten Travelers With Arrest For Joking About Security

Prisoner training: Don’t complain about your grope down

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
October 11, 2013

Travelers who crack jokes about the TSA’s ludicrous security procedures could face arrest, according to a new loudspeaker warning being broadcast at airports in the U.S.

While traveling through George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Matt Miller heard a security announcement repeatedly aired on the airport intercom that left him disturbed.

“You are also reminded that any inappropriate remarks or jokes concerning security may result in your arrest,” the loudspeaker message states.

These new loudspeaker warnings remind us that the TSA continues to excel at indoctrinating Americans to be well-behaved prisoners via obedience training – reminding them that they can be disappeared if they dare speak out of turn, even in a humorous way.

The conduct of the National Park Service over the last week might be the biggest scandal of the Obama administration
Advance Editorial From Our Forthcoming 10/21-10/28 Issue

Oct 21, 2013, Vol. 19, No. 07 • By JONATHAN V. LAST

We are a nation that has a government—not the other way around.”
—Ronald Reagan

The conduct of the National Park Service over the last week might be the biggest scandal of the Obama administration. This is an expansive claim, of course. Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the IRS, the NSA, the HHS mandate—this is an administration that has not lacked for appalling abuses of power. And we still have three years to go.

Even so, consider the actions of the National Park Service since the government shutdown began. People first noticed what the NPS was up to when the World War II Memorial on the National Mall was “closed.” Just to be clear, the memorial is an open plaza. There is nothing to operate. Sometimes there might be a ranger standing around. But he’s not collecting tickets or opening gates. Putting up barricades and posting guards to “close” the World War II Memorial takes more resources and manpower than “keeping it open.”

Reminder : Pick Up your Updated Emergency Planning Guide Here

The Ridgewood Office of Emergency Management (OEM) just published an Emergency Planning Guide for 2013 – the first update of this critical resource in nearly 15 years.

The Emergency Planning Guide is designed to provide residents with basic emergency preparedness information, including tools and checklists that will assist families in preparing for different types of emergencies. It will also help residents to stay informed before, during and after disasters.

Click Here for your copy of the Ridgewood Emergency Planning Guide.

“The Emergency Planning Guide is a must-have resource for all Ridgewood residents and businesses,” explained Mayor Paul Aronsohn. “As we have learned from Super Storm Sandy and other recent storms, you can never be too prepared for a disaster.”

“I applaud our OEM leadership for its proactive approach,” Aronsohn continued.

For the first time, the Emergency Planning Guide is available electronically for viewing and downloading on the Ridgewood OEM website (https://oem.ridgewoodnj.net) as well as the main Village of Ridgewood website (www.ridgewoodnj.net).

The new Emergency Planning Guide was specifically designed as a PDF document to take advantage of current technology. A limited number of hard copies will also be printed at a later date.

According to OEM Coordinator Jeremy Kleiman, “In the past, we would print and mail a copy of the booklet to all village residents and businesses, which is expensive. Budget constraints made us re-think how we communicate emergency preparedness information to the public. We decided to make the Emergency Planning Guide an electronic document to save costs and also to leverage current technology. Residents who are registered to receive E-Notices from the village will receive the document by email.”

OEM asks all residents to register for E-Notices to receive routine information, such as the Emergency Planning Guide, as well as emergency alerts. Please register by visiting either www.ridgewoodnj.net and clicking on the “E-Notices” link, or https://oem.ridgewoodnj.net and clicking on the “Swift911 Notification” icon. Either link will take residents to the same registration portal.

For those residents who do not register for E-Notices or are unable to receive information by email, a limited number of hard copies of the Emergency Planning Guide will be printed at a later date. Ridgewood Councilman Tom Riche is leading a fundraising effort to secure donations that will cover the cost of printing the booklets. Contributions may be made payable to Ridgewood Emergency Planning Guide, c/o Finance Office, Ridgewood Village Hall, 131 N. Maple Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07451.

If the fix is in, why doesn’t Valley pay Price’s hourly rate? Why are the taxpayers of Ridgewood paying her when her client is Valley?

The tail is wagging the dog: Price is supposed to advise the PB who represent THE PEOPLE of RIDGEWOOD. Price gets tangled up in legalese, the Mayor sips his Starbucks, Nalbanthian admonishes and threatens the people in the audience, and the remainder of the PB sits in silence. Price and Drill make the public proceedings so tangled, most cannot follow. I guess that’s the point: the fix is in!

Same old story: the PB should be trying to decide IF the expansion should happen, not figuring out how to make it happen.I am completely disgusted with the way the residents are being treated. We’re the ones who live here. We pay taxes. The PB should be working on our behalf, not sucking up to Valley.

Gail Price should provide sufficient advice to the PB to allow it to stand on its own two feet and not be pushed around by any large entity corporation that can afford to pay a lawyer to shout people down. If she can’t do that job she should quit or be fired.

New wave of WWII veterans move barricades to access DC memorial

New wave of WWII veterans move barricades to access DC memorial
Published October 02, 2013
FoxNews.com

A new wave of veterans were forced to move barricades at the WWII Memorial in Washington Wednesday morning to gain access during the government slimdown, a spokeswoman from Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., told FoxNews.com.

The WWII veterans, from Ohio, Kansas and Missouri, arrived at the memorial one day after another group relied on the assistance from elected officials to move the barricades to allow access. Parks police did not prevent the first group from entering, nor did they interfere with Wednesday’s group.

The veterans vowed to make the trek to D.C. regardless of the situation in Washington. When asked how they were going to visit the World War II Memorial when it’s closed, Ian Drake, a WWII veteran, told Fox4KC.com the group will “find a way in, one way or another. We might have to climb or something. It’s no problem. Well work it out when we get there.”

Climategate II: leaked emails show struggle to deal with warming lull
Published September 20, 2013
Associated Press

STOCKHOLM –  Scientists working on a landmark U.N. report on climate change are struggling to explain why global warming appears to have slowed down in the past 15 years even though greenhouse gas emissions keep rising.

Leaked documents obtained by The Associated Press show there are deep concerns among governments over how to address the issue ahead of next week’s meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Climate skeptics have used the lull in surface warming since 1998 to cast doubt on the scientific consensus that humans are cooking the planet by burning fossil fuels and cutting down CO2-absorbing forests.

The IPCC report is expected to affirm the human link with greater certainty than ever, but the panel is under pressure to also address the recent lower rate of warming, which scientists say is likely due to heat going deep into the ocean and natural climate fluctuations.

“I think to not address it would be a problem because then you basically have the denialists saying, ‘Look the IPCC is silent on this issue,”‘ said Alden Meyer, of the Washington-based Union of Concerned Scientists.

Global warming believers are feeling the heat

Global warming believers are feeling the heat
By James Delingpole Environment

James Delingpole is a writer, journalist and broadcaster who is right about everything. He is the author of numerous fantastically entertaining books, including his most recent work Watermelons: How the Environmentalists are Killing the Planet, Destroying the Economy and Stealing Your Children’s Future, also available in the US, and in Australia as Killing the Earth to Save It. His website is www.jamesdelingpole.com.

On Friday the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change delivers its latest verdict on the state of man-made global warming. Though the details are a secret, one thing is clear: the version of events you will see and hear in much of the media, especially from partis pris organisations like the BBC, will be the opposite of what the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report actually says.

Already we have had a taste of the nonsense to come: a pre-announcement to the effect that “climate scientists” are now “95 per cent certain” that humans are to blame for climate change; an evidence-free declaration by the economist who wrote the discredited Stern Report that the computer models cited by the IPCC “substantially underestimate” the scale of the problem; a statement by the panel’s chairman, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, that “the scientific evidence of… climate change has strengthened year after year”.

As an exercise in bravura spin, these claims are up there with Churchill’s attempts to reinvent the British Expeditionary Force’s humiliating retreat from Dunkirk as a victory. In truth, though, the new report offers scant consolation to those many alarmists whose careers depend on talking up the threat. It says not that they are winning the war to persuade the world of the case for catastrophic anthropogenic climate change – but that the battle is all but lost.

At the heart of the problem lie the computer models which, for 25 years, have formed the basis for the IPCC’s scaremongering: they predicted runaway global warming, when the real rise in temperatures has been much more modest. So modest, indeed, that it has fallen outside the lowest parameters of the IPCC’s prediction range. The computer models, in short, are bunk.

New Jersey’s Disappearing Doctors
Posted: Sep 26, 2013 10:17 AM EST Updated: Sep 26, 2013 11:25 AM EST
By Tamara Laine, @ChasingTamara

Neptune, New Jersey (My9NJ) –

New Jersey is experiencing a shortage of doctors. In fact, it’s projected that by 2020 the state will be about 3,000 primary care physicians short of what is needed to give optimal health care.

So why are doctors fleeing the Garden State?

According to Deborah Briggs, the President and CEO of the Council of Teaching Hospitals, New Jersey loses nearly 70% of the doctors it educates to other states. This is well below the national average of a 48% retention rate.

In other words, in 2013 New Jersey only kept about 34% of the doctors who were educated and trained in the state.

A Short Guide to Obamacare

obamacare

A Short Guide to Obamacare
by Matt Faherty
September 23, 2013

It’s not a national healthcare system. It’s not the free market. It isn’t what we’ve had for the last forty years. So what is Obamacare?

Maybe I am too late to write about this topic since the Affordable Care Act has already been passed and is in the process of implementation. Then again, the bill is infamously opaque, and I believe very few people, either in Washington, the media, or the general public understand what Obamacare is, or how it will make healthcare more affordable. A study in the Journal of Health Economics published this month claims that only 14% of Americans between ages 25 and 64 have a basic understanding of how insurance works, let alone how Obamacare will effect it. Nobody even seems to know how long the bill is with estimates ranging from 10,000 to 33,000 pages of mind-numbing bureaucratic documents.

According to Nancy Pelosi we should start to know what is in the bill at this point, so I will take a crack at it.

Overview

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is a jumble of convoluted regulations designed to encourage economic interactions which are uneconomical.

Over the last fifty years, extensive government intervention has distorted the private healthcare market beyond repair, resulting in skyrocketing costs and premiums. With tens of millions of Americans priced out of the health insurance market, Obamacare seeks to increase coverage by mandating individuals, businesses, and insurance companies into the existing market structure.

If that last sentence doesn’t make a lot of sense, that’s because it doesn’t. Thirty to fifty million Americans were not insured in 2010 for a reason: because it’s not feasible to do so (for most of them at least). The actuarial models used by health insurance companies suggest that insuring such people will cost more money in the long run than it would produce. Therefore, no private, for-profit company will touch theses uninsured individuals.

The reason Obamacare is an incomprehensible pile of minute regulations is because every single attempt by the state to alter the market creates five worse problems in its wake, which are subsequently “fixed” by more regulations, which create more problems, and so on and so forth.

It would take a monumental effort to go through the reasoning behind every component of the bill. For the sake of this article, I will just look at a few major components and their effects on the economy.
