Ridgewood NJ, nearly 5,000 railway workers at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) voted to reject a tentative contract agreement with railroads and authorize a strike, the union said Wednesday. The vote reveals that rail workers are not satisfied with the agreement, which calls for 24 percent raises and back pay but doesn’t address workers’ demands for more predictable scheduling and the ability to take time off for doctors’ appointments without being penalized. IAM said that it would delay strike action until Sept. 29 at noon to allow union leaders to continue negotiations with railroads.

The State Health Benefits Commission is scheduled to hold a vote on the plan on Wednesday.

Bergen County Prosecutor Corrects Information on Uber driver Knife Point Robbery of Passenger in Saddle Brook

Saddle Brook NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of ALLEN ERNST (DOB: 07/18/1994; single; unemployed) of Garfield, NJ; KARINA EREMYAN (DOB: 04/01/1991; single; unemployed) of Fair Lawn, NJ; and ANTONIO BOWEN (DOB: 11/04/1993; single; currently incarcerated) on charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.  The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Saddle Brook Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain John Zotollo.

Ridgewood Police Respond to “unspecified threat” at Non-profit School

Ridgewood NJ, The Holmstead School, a non-profit middle school/high school/extended year school located on Hope Street, Ridgewood, was temporarily evacuated on Monday afternoon, 09/12, in response to an “unspecified threat” that was received by the school earlier in the day. A “bottom to top” search of the school building was conducted by several police officers from Ridgewood Police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). The human search party was assisted by two (2) BCSO K-9s. Search results proved negative; faculty, staff, and students were allowed to re-occupy the building within 60 minutes of Ridgewood Police’s initial arrival on scene. An investigation into the threat’s origin will likely be conducted by Ridgewood Police.

The car show has become one of the big must go events for the Village over the last 27 years. Residents and visitors from all over Bergen County flooded the central business district , to what many auto enthusiasts call the best car show in the county .  Resident photographer Boyd Loving captured some great images of the event and all the amazing cars .

Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Observation of 9/11 Anniversary

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy ordered that U.S. and New Jersey flags be flown at half-staff at all state buildings and facilities from sunset on Friday, September 9, 2022, until sunrise on Monday, September 12, 2022, in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 innocent people, of whom almost 700 were New Jersey residents, that were killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks.
