Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water is proposing ,Stage II restrictions (2 days a week irrigation) were imposed in June 2016 and are still in effect in Glen Rock, Midland Park, Ridgewood and Wyckoff. Without these restrictions, the use of drinking water for irrigation will continue increasing toward levels that are unsustainable regardless of drought conditions. To reverse this trend, an ordinance was introduced on March 8, 2017 to amend the provisions governing Water Emergencies in the Village of Ridgewood Code. Changes proposed include:
Making 2 days a week irrigation permanent year round,
Restricting irrigation hours to limit losses to evaporation,
Restricting irrigation using private wells to 2 days a week,
Adding new exemptions, including drip irrigation and smart controllers.
This ordinance applies only to Ridgewood, but it is expected that the Boroughs of Glen Rock and Midland Park, and the Township of Wyckoff will follow suit as they have in the past. Below is the proposed ordinance. Questions can be directed to Ridgewood Water at 201-670-5521 or [email protected]
Ridgewood NJ, Several weeks ago residents of Bogert and Cambridge noticed that the police were in the neighborhood posting no parking signs. The No parking signs say :
No stopping or Standing 7:30 Am -4pm Mon-Fri Sept1-June 30th
A resident group contacted the Ridgewood blog looking to voice their concerns, “All the residents of Bogert and Cambridge afflicted by this were quite unaware of any potential ordinance which would prohibit us parking in front of our own homes. In fact I recieved a ticket in February when my husband moved the car early one morning and didn’t move it back.
My concern is that this ordinance was passed without any input by the people affected by it save for one person. There was a petition circulated around the neighborhood which garnered about 50 or 60 signatures. I’d like to get the word out that if people are upset by this they need to attend the next VC meeting and have their voices heard.”
A Village Council Meeting is scheduled to discuss the ordinance on March 22nd. Lately there seems a lot of complaints have been voiced about unilateral decisions made perhaps the by product of all these “committees” in the decision making progress.
Ridgewood NJ, The adult male driver of a 4-door KIA sedan that crashed into a snowbank near Ridgewood High School was taken into custody by Ridgewood PD officers after he failed a sobriety test that was administered on Brookside Avenue, Ridgewood, just moments after the crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon, 03/15. The driver appeared to have been uninjured in the crash. His KIA was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
Ridgewood NJ, while Ridgewood residents were pretty happy with the Village response to Stella, a readers sentiments were that ” All the roads could use salt! Even schools are sheets of ice and still mounds of snow. Sidewalks not cleared. Should have been no school today too. Just sayin.” Many also felt the schools could have done a better job with the clean up .
Maybe next time the Village can take Pornhub up on its offer :
“Pledging to assist anyone who “wants to get plowed,” the adult entertainment site says it is sending out a fleet of branded trucks to clean the city’s streets and parking lots for free.
“The Pornhub team understands that by this time of year, most cities have run up their budget in snow removal,” Pornhub Vice President Corey Price tells Boston, “and we thought we’d lend a hand in getting our fans plowed.”
The cheeky service, which is only being offered in Boston and New Jersey, is slated to begin when the flakes start falling overnight and continue for the duration of the storm, Price says. Each of the trucks—he says there are more than two dozen of them—will have the porn website’s black, white, and orange logo on their plows and doors.”
Ridgewood Nj, Ridgewood Emergency Services reported their activity for Storm Stella. For the entire period of the storm, 3 ambulances were fully staffed. Fortunately, it was a quiet day and just a few storm related calls. “Ridgewood Emergency Services is the only volunteer agency in Bergen County that operates an emergency utility truck with a snow plow ahead of the ambulances or other department vehicles in the storms”, stated Public Information Officer Bob Krane. “Our Volunteers also will shovel the walkway as well on location. Between the plowing and the shoveling, the EMS crews and other responders have a safe work zone.”

Ridgewood Public Schools will have a delayed opening today as well as the Village Hall and The Stable and will have a 9:30 a.m delayed opening .
While the Blizzard came in a bit short of the 18-24 inches of snow totals expected, snow rian and sleet and dangerous winds led to white out conditions.
The Ridgewood Police reported that heavy wet snow took down some trees, taking powers lines with them. Racetrack road was closed between route 17 and northern Parkway for a transformer on fire in the roadway. Power outages were reported in the area. Public service has been notified.
Heights and Phelps was closed while a tree was removed .
Ridgewood Fire department reminds you that If you should lost power during the storm and needed to use a portable generator, please use it with care and according to the instructions for that device.
Heard a great Shoveling tip yesterday, spray PAM on the shovel blade before shoveling.The Snow slides right off and doesn’t stick.

Paris (AFP) – Parents, take courage. If you survive the sleep deprivation, toddler tantrums and teenage angst, you may be rewarded with a longer life than your childless peers, researchers said Tuesday.
Fathers gained more in life expectancy than mothers, a team wrote in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health — and particularly in older age.
“By the age of 60, the difference in life expectancy… may be as much as two years” between people with, and those without, children, they concluded.
Researchers tracked the lifespan of men and women born between 1911 and 1925 and living in Sweden — more than 1.4 million people in total.
They also gathered data on whether the participants were married and had children.
Men and women with at least one child had “lower death risks” than childless ones, the team concluded.
“At 60 years of age, the difference in life expectancy was two years for men and 1.5 years for women” compared to peers with no kids, the researchers wrote.
By age 80, men who fathered children had a remaining life expectancy of seven years and eight months, compared to seven years for childless men, said the team.
For mothers, life expectancy at 80 was nine years and six months, while for childless women it was eight years and 11 months.
The study merely pointed out a correlation, and cannot conclude that having children is the cause of the life expectancy gains, the researchers admitted.
As of February 20, out of the total 1751 online survey responses, there were 79 responses from the Ridgewood zip code. We would love to see as many 07450 responses as possible to ensure that the Bergen County Master Plan reflects the needs of Ridgewood residents! Avoid unnecessary travel during the storm so the plows can clear the streets.
Do not park Vehicles on the roadway when snow is falling.
Do not shovel snow back into the roadway after the plows clear the street. Ordinance 249-1a.
If you have a fire hydrant near your house, clear the snow around it for emergency access.
Overnight parking permission is suspended until Thursday 3/16/17. There will be no permission granted to park overnight ordinance 249-48.
Snow and ice is to be removed from sidewalks no later than 24 hours after snow has fallen. Failure to do so subjects the property owner to a fine. Ordinance 249-1a.

A powerful snowstorm is headed our way. A Blizzard Warning is in effect from midnight tonight through midnight Tuesday. 18-24 inches of snow is expected, along with dangerous winds and white out conditions. Stay indoors and do not travel. Due to the impending blizzard, here is what you should know:
GARBAGE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION
There will no garbage or recycling collection on March 14th and no curbside bulk pickup on March 15th. Simply put out the garbage, recycling or bulk refuse on your next scheduled collection date. On March 16th and March 17th, all garbage must be brought to the end of your driveway (not in the street), for the safety of our Village employees. Backyard collection of garbage will resume on March 20th, weather permitting.
PARKING ON STREETS PROHIBITED TO ALLOW FOR PLOWING
In order to allow the Village crews to clear the streets of snow, residents are prohibited from parking on the streets all day on March 14th. Overnight parking on streets will not be permitted on March 13th, March 14th, and March 15th. Please be aware that there is a protocol for plowing roads, which is as follows: The primary roads into the Village are plowed first, which include the roads into the Village, particularly those by the hospital and the schools. The secondary roads, located off of the main roads, are plowed second. Finally, the tertiary roads, such as cul de sacs and dead ends are plowed. Due to the large amount of snow which will be falling, over a short period of time, the crews may take some time to get to the secondary and tertiary roads.
SNOW REMOVAL
Snow must be removed from all residential sidewalks within 24 hours of it forming. Please do not put the snow into the street, put it back onto your property.
POWER OUTAGES
High winds from the storm may cause power outages. Please stay away from downed wires. If you experience a power outage, please do not call the Police Department unless there is an emergency. Please call PSE&G directly at 1-800-436-7734.
FIRE HYDRANTS
If you have a fire hydrant on your property, please clear it of accumulating snow. The house you save could be your own!
OTHER INFORMATION
All Village Offices and the Library will be closed on March 14th. The Recycling Center will also be closed. The Police Department, on the second floor of Village Hall, will remain open.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting scheduled for March 14th has been cancelled.

WINTER STORM STELLA – RIDGEWOOD UPDATES – MARCH 13, 2017
All Village offices and the Library will be closed on March 14th, due to the impending snow storm. The Police Department, on the 2nd floor of Village Hall, will remain open.

Due to the impending blizzard, there will be no recycling or garbage pickup and the Recycling Center will be closed on March 14th. There will also be no curbside bulk pickup on March 15th. In addition, in order to keep our Village employees safe, all garbage must be taken to the end of your driveway (not in the street) through March 17th. We need to check the village water for mis management amnesia induced spend-Itis.The Library like 85 percent of our road surfaces needs a fresh coat of asphalt and paint.There is a PAC and it I s 1000 yards across from the Library and has plenty of outdoor seating and nostalgic bandshell.Ridgewood Grab your egos and take a reasonable approach for a change.It ‘s a complete non starter to start spending millions and moving staircases with 2 well placed elevators in such a small library.Tutors need to weigh in as they get the free rent and Benefits of an exclusive market at our expense.
garage fiasco tax ahead , shedded space for drug dealers off the trains..police don’t leave their suvs today you think they will blink an eye to patrol any new parking garage..not a chance..will be the new blight magnet for closed retail stores folks..there will be crappy rental car stations and other alternate businesses there to hide this fiasco
