Waldwick NJ, The adult female driver 78 of a rolled over Jeep Compass was extricated from her vehicle by Waldwick firefighters on Sunday afternoon, 03/07. Waldwick Police, Waldwick EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital also responded to the incident, which occurred on Harrison Avenue near Lafayette Place. A flatbed tow truck righted the vehicle and removed it from the scene. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Waldwick police report that the 78-year-old Waldwick resident was hospitalized after her Jeep hit a parked car and overturned.

Waldwick NJ, Waldwick Police, Waldwick Fire Department, and Waldwick EMS responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on Route 17 north near Grove Street, Waldwick on Wednesday morning, 10/21. The vehicle’s sole occupant, its driver, self extricated and was transported by a Waldwick BLS ambulance to The Valley Hospital for treatment of minor crash related injuries. The vehicle was righted and removed by a tow truck. Route 17’s right lane and right shoulder were both closed while emergency crews worked.

Waldwick NJ, Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department Rescue 642 was dispatched for an extrication at an moving vehicle crash at the intersection of Wyckoff and Crescent. Upon arrival of the Rescue and Engine 631 the driver of the vehicle self extricated herself. Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department members secured both vehicles and spread speedi-Dri while waiting on the tow.
Waldwick NJ, The adult male driver of a Mini Cooper was seriously injured in a Friday afternoon, 09/18 crash at the intersection of Route 17 southbound and Summit Avenue in Waldwick. Waldwick Police, Waldwick Fire Department, and ALS & BLS units from The Valley Hospital rushed to aid the victim. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreckage. Police at the scene did not reveal why the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a retaining wall.
Waldwick NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of KENNETH BROWN (DOB: 11/04/1980; single; janitor) of 128 Ward Street, Paterson, NJ on two counts of Sexual Assault. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Waldwick Police Department under the direction of Chief Mark Messner.
Waldwick NJ, the Waldwick Fire Department was dispatched to live wires down and on fire at Rt 17 and Grove St. The situation caused the highway to be shutdown in both directions. In addition there was a snapped utility pole with a transformer up against a parked car and a nearby tree had also fell blocking Hudson Ave. Waldwick Fire Department stayed on scene for several hours assisting the DOT in repairing the damaged highway which occurred from the wires burning in the road. Engine 631 stretched two lines to cool the road surface. At the time the Waldwick Fire Department cautioned all residents not to approach downed wires as they maybe live and you run the possibility of electrocution.
Waldwick NJ, No injuries were reported in connection with an early Monday afternoon, 06/01, vehicle vs. structure crash at 30A Franklin Turnpike, Waldwick. Waldwick Police and Waldwick Fire Department responded to the incident in which the adult female driver of a passenger vehicle accidentally crashed into a storefront. A building inspector assessed damage as minimal and permitted affected businesses to continue operating. The vehicle also sustained only minor damage and was driven from the scene.
Waldwick NJ,An individual sustained life threatening injuries after reportedly being struck by a NJ Transit train in Waldwick late Monday evening, 01/27. The victim was transported by helicopter from the Waldwick Municipal Pool Parking Lot to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. Waldwick Police, Waldwick EMS, Waldwick Fire, and NJ Transit Police responded to the incident. Ho-Ho-Kus Police and Midland Park Police provided on scene assistance. Waldwick NJ, according to the Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department , on Thursday at approximately 10:30 a Waldwick Police officer on patrol on Franklin Turnpike spotted a dumpster on fire where the fire had extended to the structure. He had the Waldwick Fire dispatched to the scene. Chief Mike Ferrara was in command and ordered a two-out engine, with NORCON being activated and received a second alarm equivalent.

Waldwick NJ, the Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department, Rescue 642 and Squad 634 responded to a car that hit a utility pole on Franklin Turnpike yesterday afternoon. Firemen secured the vehicle and disconnect the battery. Both units then stood by till the arrival of PSE&G. One airbag was deployed and no reports of injury .
Scott Garrett Reintroduces Bill to Rename Waldwick Post Office in Marine’s Honor

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Scott Garrett (NJ-05) reintroduced legislation (H.R. 1458) today to honor fallen Marine and Waldwick native Joseph D’Augustine by renaming the United States Post Office building located at 1 Walter Hammond Place in Waldwick, NJ the “Staff Sergeant Joseph D’Augustine Post Office Building.”
“Words cannot describe the gratitude our community and our country has for Joseph’s selfless commitment to protect his fellow Marines and the freedoms of the United States of America; he is a true hero,” said Garrett after reintroducing the legislation in the House. “On behalf of New Jersey’s 5th District and the Waldwick community, I believe that the Waldwick post office should be renamed to honor this young man and remember his final sacrifice forever. May we never forget Staff Sergeant D’Augustine’s bravery in the line of duty and the family and friends he left behind.”
Staff Sergeant Joseph D’Augustine was killed in action in the Helmand province of Afghanistan on March 27, 2012. D’Augustine, a 2001 Waldwick High School graduate, was assigned to the 8th Engineer Support Battalion of the 2nd Marine Logistics Group out of Camp Lejune and was a specialist trained to dismantle bombs and land mines. D’Augustine was on his fourth tour of duty overseas and his second in Afghanistan.
Garrett has received support from the entire New Jersey delegation in the House of Representatives, and all are cosponsoring the bill.
