Washington DC, the Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.6 percent in April, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Final demand prices rose 1.0 percent in March and 0.5 percent in February. (See table A.) On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index moved up 6.2 percent for the 12 months ended in April, the largest advance since 12- month data were first calculated in November 2010.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 66% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the current situation with migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border is a crisis. Twenty percent (20%) say it’s not a crisis, and 13% are not sure.

An increase in the federal corporate tax rate to 28 percent would raise the U.S. federal-state combined tax rate to 32.34 percent, giving the U.S. the highest combined corporate income tax rate in the OECD, ahead of France at 32.02 percent and the U.S. rank on the Tax Foundation’s International Tax Competitiveness Index would fall from 21st in 2020 to 30th, with the corporate rank falling from 19th to 33rd overall.

The Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service also announced they disbursed approximately 90 million Economic Impact Payments from the American Rescue Plan. As announced last week, Economic Impact Payments are rolling out in tranches to millions of Americans in the coming weeks.
