Advances in public health have dramatically reduced the child mortality rate from over 45% to under 1%, and our citizens now live over 35 years longer on average.
American ingenuity and scientific achievements have given the world countless innovations, from the light bulb and modern flight to the internet, air conditioning, movies, and the polio vaccine. Our nation boasts more than 2.7 million miles of power lines electrifying the country, over 4 million miles of paved roads, and over 90% of households accessing broadband internet. The US also holds the record for the most human visits to space, with over 800 missions.
While challenges remain and improvements are always needed, we’ve come a long way since our beginning. So, grab a hot dog and your drink of choice—here’s to the next 248 years of progress and innovation! Happy Independence Day!
