Ridgewood NJ, much like the movie  “2001: A Space Odyssey”  a science fiction film directed by Stanley Kubrick, released in 1968. The film follows a voyage to Jupiter with the sentient computer HAL after the discovery of a mysterious monolith on the Moon. It explores themes of evolution, artificial intelligence, and the potential consequences of human advancement.

Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft-backed OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, accusing them of violating an agreement by prioritizing profits over the original mission of benefiting the public with artificial intelligence. This legal battle brings together two influential figures in the tech world, shedding light on the future direction of AI.

Musk, known for his leadership roles at Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), played a pivotal role in the establishment of OpenAI in 2015 alongside Altman and cofounder Greg Brockman. However, Musk resigned from the board in 2018, citing disagreements over plans to create a for-profit arm of OpenAI that year. Microsoft later invested in OpenAI in 2019, injecting a substantial sum of at least $13 billion into the company and acquiring a 49% stake in its for-profit division, which is now valued at $80 billion.

The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI’s collaboration with Microsoft contradicts its original objective of developing a public, open-source AI platform. Musk’s legal action seeks an injunction to prevent any party, including Microsoft, from benefiting from OpenAI’s technology, underscoring the importance of upholding the organization’s founding principles.
