Ridgewood NJ, 3 of the 4 baseball/softball diamonds at Ridgewood’s Veteran’s Field will not be included in the coming $700k LED field lighting project. Only 1 diamond will be lit, the varsity baseball diamond. However, all fields designated for soccer play will be lit along with the varsity baseball diamond.

  1. Oh, come on they run out of money

  2. Finish one project at a time. Take the 340 K from healthbarn pavilion and give it to TOWN sports. Makes sense

  3. Are they doing this project during baseball season?

  4. I hope that there are no tears shed over this as there is no crying in baseball.

  7. I don’t understand the trepidation and panic that accompanies Ridgewood sports.
Bullying and drama forced the installation of artificial turf in the 2000’s. No meaningful research on the topic. Now we have carcinogens.
Perhaps, pause, reflect & research could accompany all of these $$$$ installations. Is NOT Ridgewood a town that prides itself on intellect and education?

    3. It has nothing to do with intellect or education. Actually it is just the opposite, it is power through forcefull action. The sports organizations are the muscle that will flex when they want something and their athletic supporters will line up to pinch hit to get them what they want. It is a well oiled machine that has their engines ready to rumble and will drag race it out with anyone who stands in their way.

  8. This is what happens when they lose all that money from Valley hospital

    1. “all the money?”

  9. Light poles will be going up in the middle of the field. Identified as a safety issue. So now padding will go around these poles. How much will that cost?

  11. How much did Ridgewood pay for this property?

    1. Just under $1.1 million.

  12. One illogical decision after another coming from this Council Majority. How much Village money and resources go to sports and his downtown business area, over the general public’s need, during their term?

  13. If 750k only covers one field, then this project is going to cost millions. What a way to circumvent the process and deceive the public.

  14. Village Manager #keithkazmark seems to be coming up short on providing the entire picture and budget. He’s like a side view mirror- distorts the perception and things appear closer and larger $$$ than they actually are.

    1. He doesn’t care and doesn’t live in Ridgewood. Probably the reason that after paying Peter Primavera over $30k to wond on the proposed field application, then maybe the village found out about all of the lawsuits he is associated with and voila, an engineering firm is hired for over $13k, it’s only money and Keith seems to be fine with it. He also didn’t mind spending another $10k on another project that could have been done for free by a state agency. Thanks, Keith!

        1. Maybe because Nan Bigos calls him “My Manager” it is an interesting bunch thats for sure!. I’d love a birds eye view and the Village holiday party. By the way, who pays for that?

  15. Oh please. If they fully lit the whole field, then you’d complain about too many lights.

Baseball starts in late April — after we move the clocks — and young kids shouldn’t be out there late at night playing. Travel teams — our more elite players who sometimes will play later games — don’t play at Vets. There is absolutely no need to light the far corner baseball fields. None. It wouldn’t do anything for anyone. Meanwhile, lots of soccer takes place in the late fall or early spring when the fields are often getting dark by 5.

  16. LET VETS SHINE 🇺🇸 for all the seniors that walk with canes and the little ones who are just learning to walk. SEE THE LIGHTS and it is important to keep it well lit.
