Early Morning Break-In Leads to High-Speed Pursuit and Crash

Franklin Lakes NJ, a botched burglary attempt in Franklin Lakes early Saturday morning resulted in five arrests after a dramatic car chase ended in a crash. The incident began around 4 a.m. when a homeowner on Birch Road discovered two intruders inside her home and quickly called 911. Responding officers spotted the suspects fleeing in a white 2016 Ford Fusion, sparking a high-speed pursuit, according to Police Captain Robert Grassi.
High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash and Arrests
The Ford Fusion sped south for about two miles before losing control and flipping over on Russell Avenue in Wyckoff. Franklin Lakes Police Officer Stephanie Cestaro, with assistance from Wyckoff police, apprehended two suspects at the crash site. The suspects were taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for evaluation before being remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack.
Police Swarm Neighborhood in Search of Additional Suspects
As the pursuit unfolded, police from several nearby towns converged on the Birch Road neighborhood, deploying a drone and K9 unit to search for other suspects. Franklin Lakes Police Chief Mark McCombs spotted two individuals on nearby Glen Place, who were arrested after attempting to flee. One of the suspects was found carrying a handgun. A fifth suspect was later apprehended after being spotted on a homeowner’s video camera.
Suspects Charged and Held in Bergen County Jail
The five suspects have been charged with burglary and eluding. They are:
- Jahmier Wilson, 21, of Rochelle Park
- Rafael Rosario, 27, of Paterson
- Shanor Collins, 18, of Paterson
- Bradly Rosario, 18, of the Bronx, New York, who also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a handgun
- Yazmir Collins, 20, of Paterson
All suspects are currently being held at the Bergen County Jail.

Burglaries are happening in Franklin Lakes and Upper Saddle River because they are too close to New York and Paterson. Given the political economic environment it is foolish to buy a home with 50 miles of New York, Paterson, Newark, Philadelphia.
