Ridgewood NJ, in a recent letter to the editor former Village manager Roberta Sonenfeld looked to undermine the current Village Council on the Village budget . Tony Loving of Ridgewood asked “Doesn’t Ms. Sonenfeld have a formal ethics complaint pending against her? For allegedly using tax revenues inappropriately? And didn’t she resign in a huff? Makes me wonder about both the accuracy and intent of her letter.”
While the idea of a lawsuit was refuted by none other than Jan Philips.Anne LaGrange Loving followed up with some hard evidence “Actually, Jan, yes and yes. For those who are interested in the facts, here are three links to information regarding the ethics violation pending against Ms. Sonenfeld:”

Loving went on , “I was in touch with the complainant yesterday, and indeed the matter is still outstanding. It can take up to two years for resolution of these complaints.
And as far as “resigning in a huff,” we all read the letter of resignation, which was made public, and it was not exactly a friendly lovey-dovey letter of resignation.”

Her questions are valid whether she has an ethics complaint pending or not. Each of her questions should be answered one by one. For example, why the increase to $1,000 for parking at the station; why shouldn’t residents be allowed to take down tree on their own property without going through a judicial process, in effect and so on. Her questions should be answered logically and thoroughly.
Parking prices went through the roof under Ms. Sonenfeld. She is such a two-face.

And how passive aggressive of her….if she really wants to play the role of concerned citizen, why not go to one of the many MANY open budget meetings that were held?
The woman was simply a gargantuan train wreck. She knew absolutely nothing about the municipal budgeting process and her letter reads as such – numerous errors as related to same. Furthermore, the ethics complaint pending against her is related to the misuse of public monies – and she has the audacity to then be critical of how monies are being spent. Go back in your hole Roberta. Yet another person I can’t wait to see a photo of as the handcuffs go into place.
Of course these questions deserve a formal response, not just the typical character assignation thuggery of Anne Loving which is what this Blog decides to make the issue. Of course, the implied increase in interest expense from all of this new municipal debt they plan to add comes just as Village property owners who are refinancing mortgages also get a meaningful increase in their interest expenses… certainly makes for less disposable income with all of these implied and hidden tax increases? Why are we adding so much debt? What’s the explanation?
She had valid questions. She left office but she is still entitled to question the current council.
I was not a fan of hers but she deserves to be treated with respect
Are Tony Loving and Ann Loving related? To Boyd Loving? Seems like she just smears people by character assasination, but completely fails to address the actual issues raised in the letter?
The same Roberta Sonnenfeld who:
>Created a revenue scheme to fine taxpayers during leaf collection season and bragged about the tens of thousands of dollars the village collected?
>Refused to detail how much parking fees would increase under the monster garage plan?
>Took a giant check on behalf of the village from the baseball association to help convert Schedler to a “field” despite residents saying they didn’t want it?
>Ignored residents pleas before and after the “bike lane to nowhere” was painted as congestion overtook the overpass as they predicted then told them everything was fine and they were wrong?
>Actively worked with developer John Saraceno on behalf of the monster garage?
>Sat idly by as the historic commission violated conflict of interest rules when voting on the garage and sought to limit an elected member’s right to speak?
>Resigned saying she didn’t support the council’s agenda?
That same Roberta?
Nothing that ever came out of Roberta’s mouth was valid. She was a political puppet the entire time.
on that note’ why do we have so many other members of the old crew stepping down. (resigning) from a upper post’s. there must be some kind of dirty game going on in the village. it seems to most that they would love a hole new manager team from the top, and going strait down to the crew leaders. boy o boy we have a real mess in the village all over again. we are seeing a turn over of employees like we never seen before. And we are now replacing them with much less experience. and the top don’t care because they are paying them less.
Roberta Sonenfeld does not need her character assassinated. Her character was killed by her own hand.

Tony Loving is Anne’s son from an earlier marriage to Boyd’s brother.
Fly Girl – Heather Mailander does not have “much less experience” than Roberta had. Heather is super-experienced. Roberta had ZERO experience and by her own admission knew NOTHING ABOUT CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REGULATIONS<
And adding to that person’s list, Roberta also was known to berate and belittle members of the public who spoke at meetings, and even did so to some of the Village Council members. Her ego was exceeded only by her incompetence.

This is the same Roberta who resigned from her job as Village Manager, then claimed to have been fired. Same Roberta who kept budget at 0%, 0%, 1.2% and 1.6% for political reasons, betting on the shot- in-the-arm that would come from all the new development in town and preparing the way for financing a humongous garage. Now we are paying the price. Just look at the poor conditions of our curbs, streets, parking lots and Downtown. I attended almost every budget meeting. I don’t recall seeing her at the meetings or asking any questions. Where was her concern then??
