Dear Ms. Mailander:
Attached please find a letter on behalf of the Friends of the Historic Zabriskie-Schedler House, Inc. making demand for return of a proposed $40,000 donation that is being held in escrow in the Village accounts. I have copied the Village Attorney, Mr. Matthews, but please be sure to review this with your counsel.
In addition, as the Village has a Resolution on the agenda for tomorrow night to accept this donation, be advised that the donation is hereby withdrawn and, respectfully, the Resolution should not be voted.

They likely wouldn’t post the actual letter as it might contain confidential information and may be governed by data privacy (yes, that is a thing). All you need to know is that they will get the funds returned as part of due process. I will be that has a nice sting to it.

Good, they don’t deserve to keep the money if they reneged on their original “PROMISE” that they keep bragging about. They are so full of baloney and they are so busy patting themselves on the back for all of the great work they are doing to make this plan come to fruition. The money was not given for the purposes of a regulation turf field, so let them return it.

Actually have tears in my eyes reading your post. Citizens is the closest park to me and I always loved it, took the kids sledding there and more . . . but it became a non-park with the addition of all that sports gear AND the designated parking spaces that do NOT belong on busy South Monroe St.! I avert my eyes whenever I drive near it–which is constantly.

Talk to the deceased Gertrude Pease Anderson who donated money to build and perpetually maintain the Pease Library Building and DEED RESTRICTED it so that it will ALWAYS be used AS A LIBRARY.
in 1998, the Pease Library was closed and the library board and village government successfully petitioned the court to void the deed restriction requiring that the building always be used as a library.
So yes. DO NOT DONATE ANYTHING to Ridgewood If you want your wishes to be honored.
