Franklin Lakes NJ, a compassionate Glen Rock resident played a key role in reuniting a missing man with his family on Saturday evening, police reported.
At around 5:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Doremus Avenue after a man knocked on a resident’s door seeking assistance in charging his cellphone. The resident, concerned for the man’s welfare but facing a language barrier, contacted authorities while offering him a blanket, water, and a chance to charge his phone on the front porch.
Upon arrival, a Spanish-speaking officer determined that the man, who appeared distressed, had cognitive disabilities and had been reported missing by his family in Franklin Lakes.
An officer from the Franklin Lakes Police Department responded to the scene and safely escorted the man back to his home.
This compassionate and quick action highlights the importance of community vigilance and care for vulnerable individuals.
