THE RIDGEWOOD NEWS

RIDGEWOOD – Members of Ridgewood’s ruling body last week voted by a narrow margin (3-2) to adopt HealthBarn USA’s lease at the Habernickel Family Park.

Councilwoman Gwenn Hauck, Mayor Paul Aronsohn and Deputy Mayor Albert Pucciarelli all voted to adopt the lease, while Councilman Mike Sedon and Councilwoman Susan Knudsen cast the dissenting votes.

The process got going due to a resolution for HealthBarn USA to occupy the gatehouse at the Habernickel property passing by a 4-1 vote at the Feb. 10 Village Council meeting. The second resolution on the lease was postponed until Feb. 18 because the council wanted to review the finalized lease before authorizing signature.

And due to the majority vote at the Feb. 18 budget meeting, the lease was adopted.

  1. I think it would be fairer to say instead of “voted by a narrow margin” to say “voted by the usual margin”.

Is there even ONE subject or topic that these three have voted ever independently?

    – that was a rhetorical question, I know the answer.

  2. Ridiculous. Wait for the Habernickel neighborhood backlash.
    Don’t worry change is coming.

  3. Shocker – another 3-2 vote. Tell me how our Council majority manage to coordinate their position on every issue without violating the Sunshine laws.

  4. Neighborhood backlash? One resident ids on record saying that they don’t like it because it will bring more cars. Welcome to Ridgewood. The town is congested. The village cannot maintain a park to please the neighbors. Maybe the neighbors should have bought the property from the previous owner.

    They will get over it.

  5. At least the Village will get some revenue from the lease to help offset operating expenses associated with maintaining the park. If the neighbors do not like it then they should pay to maintain the park.

  6. Health Barn is a good organization. Having some cash inflow doesn’t hurt.

  7. the village will spend more than 3700 a month on that property. New traffic enforcement, sidewalks etc are coming soon there.

  8. Residents of the Habenickel neighborhood – remember who stuck it to you when you go to the polls in May. Vote NO to Hauck and Pucciarelli, Hawk and Puke that is.

  9. 516… we can revisit in a few months to see… don’t see the urbanization coming…

  10. paul smith – please watch the council meeting in which this was approved. listen to interaction between mike and roberta, where they listed the suggestions from citizens safety committee

  11. 5.21 right on. The Terrible threes strike again. Can you spell blockVote again. ??

  12. i watched and noted… I don’t think you’ll see convoys thru whitelandia….

  13. 7:03 pm and you think all those changes will cost zero dollars to the village?

  14. So who are the kids who will be benefitting from these nutrition sessions? Will poor children from poor neighborhoods be the attendees? Probably not; because the classes are not govt. funded.

Classes will be composed of rich kids whose parents are too stupid, amazingly so, to learn how to feed and teach their own kids about healthy eating and healthy gardening.

And for that reason the residents of that neighborhood have to be suddenly bombarded with dangerous traffic.

For the record, I don’t live anywhere near that neighborhood.

  15. How much money was spent in time of village employees and attorney for this lease which will generate only 3700 a month and give up substantial space from the park and parking spaces on game days?

  16. Can we please change the name to either hillcrest park, or Hoffmans farm (original name)
Irene got 10 mil for that place, it’s not like she donated it so her name should only appear on her bank account.

  17. Is there a new feel good litmus test for businesses? Does every establishment in the business district need to serve the poor or a higher cause? Health Barn sounds good to me.

The ten houses in the Hillcrest neighborhood should be glad. That it is not high density housing.

  18. 8:55 she gets ALL of the parking spaces.

  19. That is so right 754…I can’t fathom who would send their child to this BS.
Only in Ridgewood, the land of dis functional families would someone send a child to a program on healthy eating. My God is that what it’s come down to? You as a parent can’t find the time in your “busy” schedule to teach YOUR child how to eat right? How F&$@(d up,is junior going to be when he gets to Harvard and can’t wipe his own ass?

  20. Your right 9:42 but mom will be there to wipe their as you can bet on it. how know they may grow up to be a councilwoman.
