IMPORTANT UPDATED RIDGEWOOD ELECTION INFORMATION DUE TO COVID-19

Ridgewood NJ, All registered voters have received in the mail the Ridgewood Board of Education election ballot (to vote on the Board of Education budget and elect one Board of Education member for an unexpired 1-year term and two Board of Education members to three-year terms) and the Ridgewood Municipal election ballot  (to elect three Village Councilmembers to 4-year terms).  These elections will be a Vote by Mail election only, and there will be no voting at the polling places.  There are two separate ballots in the envelope which was sent to you, one for the Board of Education and the second one for the Village Council.  The Vote by Mail ballots must be postmarked by May 12, 2020 and received at the County by May 14, 2020.  Keeping in mind that the mail service may be slower than usual, you are encouraged to vote your ballot and mail it back in the postage paid envelope, as soon as possible so that your vote will count.

County Committee elections have been postponed to June 2021.

Primary Election – The date for the Primary Election has been changed to July 7, 2020.  It has not yet been determined if this will be a Vote by Mail election or voting in the usual way, in voting machines.  As a reminder, you must be affiliated with either the Democrat party or Republican party in order to vote in the Primary Election.

May 13, 2020 is the final date to change parties in order to be eligible to vote for that party in the July 7, 2020 Primary Election.  Declaration of Party Affiliation cards must be at the Bergen County Superintendent of Elections Office by this date.  See mailing address, below.

June 16, 2020 is the final voter registration date for the July 7, 2020 Primary Election.   Voter registration forms must be at the Bergen County Superintendent of Elections Office by this date.  See mailing address, below.

Declaration of Party Affiliation forms and voter registration forms can be found on the County Elections Division website: https://www.co.bergen.nj.us/election-divisions.  Click on “Voter Forms” on the left hand side.  Voter registration forms can be mailed to:  Bergen County Superintendent of Election, One Bergen County Plaza, Room 380, Hackensack, NJ 07601-7076.

  1. This and other statements have said the envelope would contain two ballots. That is technically true, but they are both on the same piece of paper. I wonder how many people won’t think of flipping it over and will vote in only one of the two elections.

  2. I am guessing all the knuckle-heads will only complete one side!
