Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey sees an increased level of police presence at several synagogues in the state as a response to the rapidly intensifying war between Israel and Hamas.
Monday marked the third day of turmoil as more than 1,000 people have been killed on both sides of the fighting.
Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco stated, “I unequivocally condemn the terrorist attacks which have taken place in Israel today. My thoughts and prayers, along with those of so many Bergen County residents, are with all of the victims and their loved ones, as well as the countless first responders.”
New reports indicate the death toll of American citizens in Israel has risen to at least nine. The death toll is only expected to rise.
Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco issued the following statement , “I had the honor of visiting Israel in 2017 and I will always cherish what I learned about the country, the people and their culture. After seeing what happened today, my heart breaks for the innocent victims of these terrorist attacks. I implore my colleagues in the Senate to join hands and stand in solidarity to condemn this senseless violence and support Israel in their time of need.”
Israeli officials say the Hamas terror attack by land, sea and air Saturday came without any warning. Many New Jerseyans are concerned about the conflict and what it could mean for friends and family overseas.
