Garfield NJ, An extensive, multi-agency investigation into a late-night armed robbery in Garfield, New Jersey, has culminated in the arrest of two Paterson residents facing a laundry list of first-degree charges.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of 22-year-old Khamere C. Chambers and 26-year-old David Reid, following collaborative investigative work by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department.

The Late-Night Ambush on Monroe Street

The incident dates back to Sunday, March 1, 2026. At approximately 12:33 a.m., Garfield police officers rushed to the vicinity of Monroe Street and Palisade Avenue following reports of an armed robbery.

According to authorities, two victims were walking down Monroe Street with a group of acquaintances after leaving a local establishment. They were suddenly approached by two masked individuals who brandished firearms and demanded their personal property. The suspects successfully robbed one victim of their car keys, wallet, and roughly $20 in cash before fleeing the neighborhood on foot.

The Getaway Car and a SWAT Team Takedown

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad jumped into action, launching a joint probe alongside Garfield detectives. A meticulous canvass of the surrounding area for physical evidence and local video surveillance footage yielded a crucial break in the case: the suspects had fled the broader scene in a white Infiniti Q60.

Using this vehicle profile and advanced investigative tactics, detectives successfully identified Chambers and Reid as the primary suspects.

The investigation then escalated to high-stakes tactical execution:

• The First Arrest: On April 16, 2026, backed by the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, detectives executed court-authorized search warrants across properties in Montvale and Paterson, as well as the white Infiniti Q60. Chambers was taken into custody without incident. Inside his properties, police recovered clothing matching the suspect’s description alongside a defaced handgun equipped with a large-capacity ammunition magazine.

• The Second Arrest: On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, with the assistance of New Jersey State Parole, detectives successfully tracked down and arrested David Reid without incident.

Severe Weapon and Robbery Charges Logged

Both men are facing severe criminal consequences and are currently held at the Bergen County Jail.

Khamere C. Chambers has been hit with a massive array of charges, including:

• Two counts of first-degree armed robbery

• First-degree and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon

• Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose

• Certain persons not to possess a firearm

• Fourth-degree aggravated assault (pointing a firearm)

• Possession of a defaced firearm and a large-capacity magazine

David Reid faces similar severe exposure, including two counts of first-degree armed robbery, multiple weapon offenses, and aggravated assault charges pending his formal detention hearing in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
