LODI, NJ — The borough of Lodi is deeply saddened to share the passing of Michael J. Nardino, Sr., a deeply respected community leader, former Borough Council member, and former Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lodi & Hackensack (now Boys & Girls Clubs of Lower Bergen County). Mike passed away on August 13, 2026, at the age of 84.
A lifelong resident of Lodi, Mike devoted decades of his life to guiding young people, advocating for local families, and building a stronger community foundation.
A Full-Circle Journey with the Boys & Girls Club
Mike’s connection to the Boys & Girls Club began as a young boy participating in the original Lodi Boys Club. Decades later, that personal bond brought him back to lead the organization that helped shape his youth.
He served as Executive Director from 2002 through December 31, 2015. Under his visionary stewardship:

Expansion: He spearheaded the expansion of services into the City of Hackensack, broadening the organization’s reach across Bergen County.

The “Calm in the Storm”: Honored with this fitting title in news coverage, Mike steadily guided the Club through major economic downturns, severe floods, tropical storms, and the devastating impacts of Hurricane Irene in 2011, ensuring the facility rebuilt quickly to serve local children.

Statewide Leadership: He was named Executive Director of the Year by the New Jersey Association of Boys & Girls Clubs and remained a passionate advocate across the statewide alliance.
A Lifetime of Civic & Community Service
Mike’s commitment to his hometown extended well beyond his professional work at the Club:

Public Servant: Served as a member of the Lodi Borough Council and as a School Board Trustee.

Community Advocate: Founded the Lodi Drug Alliance Committee to support local substance abuse prevention and awareness initiatives.

Youth Coach: Dedicated many seasons as a coach for Lodi Little League Girls Softball.
A Enduring Family & Community Legacy
Mike’s true legacy lives on in the countless young people, families, and colleagues whose lives were enriched by his mentorship and unwavering dedication.
He was the beloved husband of MaryAnn Nardino and the late Diane P. Nardino, as well as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend to many across Bergen County.

Visitation: Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral Services: Monday, August 17, 2026, beginning at 12:00 PM at Di Chiara Funeral Home (300 Main St., Lodi, NJ).

Funeral Mass: Monday, August 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Lodi.

Interment: To follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi, NJ.
Memorial Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike’s honor to the Lodi Boys & Girls Club, 50 Brookside Ave., 1st Floor, Lodi, NJ 07644.
