the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ , Gwenn Habernickel Hauck is getting ready to run for Village Council ( https://www.gwennhauck.com/ ) . Gwen is a current Village Council member and is a key member of the Council Majority ,know to most blog readers as the “3 Amigos” .
While Mayor Aronsohn is as many have long expected moving on , Gwen is preparing for a new electoral challenge. Gwen has long catered to the senior set in town ,but has become a very controversial figure on the dais . Her tenure has been dominated by her unwillingness to address the obvious conflicts with Valley Hospital, her frequent non sequitur out bursts , her addiction to electronic communications during council meetings and he unwillingness to listen to alternative point of views .
It is important to note you get the Government you vote for. So all you posters on this blog that voted for the 3 Amigos and now posting negative opinions about them let us remind you what your vote did and how it screwed the rest of us.
Yes Westsiders, hows your leaf pick up coming along and the high density housing ,cant wait for little Johnny to lose his AP spot, ah?
Yes Preserve Graydon Group hows the new ramp looking , we hear 3 people have used it in 2 years? And the far east side Schedler Field hows the house coming along and enjoy the 90X60 baseball field , especially the lights at night and the traffic .
ALBERT J PUCCIARELLI 2078 55.50%
KEITH KILLION 1711 45.70%
RUSSELL R FORENZA 817 21.82%
PAUL ARONSOHN 2479 66.21%
MARY JANE SHINOZUKA 1484 39.64%
GWENN H HAUCK 1727 46.13%
All very good points. Let not forget them as we vote next year. They fooled us once let not let that happen again. It doesn’t matter if the Mayor is not running the other 2 have been complicit in his plans and their votes proved that. Let us not take the chance of voting for one of the two just to find out that they have put up their own candidates who will continue to push the ” 3 Amigos Agenda”
Albert J. Pucciarelli
Occupation and/or volunteer position: Partner, McElroy, Deutsch Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP; chair of the firm’s hotels and resorts and aviation law practice groups; member of the Board of Directors, Skytop Lodge Corporation; member of the Board of Directors, Hospitality Industry Bar Association; President, Mid-Atlantic Pilots Association; Deputy Mayor and Councilman, Village of Ridgewood.
How long I have lived in Ridgewood: 35 years (since October 1979)
The best-kept secret in the village: I am not in favor of every new commercial real estate development proposed for our village and I have met real estate developers whom I do not like.
WELL TELL US ALBERT WHICH DEVELOPERS DON’T YOU LIKE?
2014 had a 20% or so turnout. To get on the ballot the requirement is 160 odd signatures that have to be in by March. The town and county makes it ridiculously easy to vote (that includes mail in ballots for all of us who slog thru 12+ hour workdays when the polls don’t open at 6). If people want to change the status quo, the above requirements are not exactly like trying to get on the primary ballot.
Paul what would your sugestions be to increase voter turn out?
Well James, we can invoke Swiss law (mandatory turnout) or the Mayor Daley approach (vote early and vote often) but I guess these wouldn’t pass muster. The bottom line is that is you have a percentage of voters who come out and vote regularly and it appears the majority of frequent voters are pretty much okay with the status quo. If there was an actual groundswell of anger among a large # of voters it would be seen at the polls. The non binding garage referendum is a perfect example. You really can’t make it any easier to vote here so the posters that vent may not representative of the majority of registered voters. There’s definitely frustration and anger among some residents but the questions are how many and why doesn’t it show in the ballot box? My only suggestion would be to implore people to get to the polls. You’re in and out in a few minutes. People that really have an issue should look at how retail politics works and organize.
I have time and can vote every hour on the hour. Would that help? Any town that reelects a dingbat deserves the moronic results it gets.
There are one or two really good candidates who are announcing this week. Folks with a mind set of keeping spending in check and preserving the beauty of the town. Stayed tuned!
Paul Smith speaks the truth, no doubt about it. Widespread dissatisfaction with an incumbent is no slam-dunk that the incumbent will be voted out on the occasion of the next election. We need a candidate or candidates who, when added to the “mix” (or solution) will cause the aforementioned generalized dissatisfaction to precipitate out in the form of actual votes in sufficient numbers to produce an electoral win. The successful new candidate needs to be able to call a spade a spade often enough or cleverly enough to make the label stick while making a good enough positive case for their own election.
Mike Sedon went door to door, speaking to people individually. Guaranteed he got some voters to the polls who otherwise may not have cast their ballot. That pavement pounding was time well spent for him.
Mike Sedon’s pavement pounding was time well spent for US. Thank God he was elected. He is awesome
Bulllet vote depending on who decides to run.
Make sure the candidates have voted with some sort of frequency otherwise the Women’s Club will hang you out to dry.
Time for the second generation Villagers share the town with the rest of us newbies.
Don’t let the special interest characters, i.e restaurant owners and Rec Committee schedulers, drive the agenda.
Ms. Hauck and her husband failed to pay their property taxes on time on multiple occasions over the last 4 years and have banned the Ridgewood PD from delivering official Village mail to their home. Her personal character and integrity are questionable at best. I did not vote for her in 2012 and would never vote for her in a Million years.
In at least one photo posted on her website, a member of the Village Council other than Mr. Aronsohn or Mr. Pucciarelli has been deliberately cropped out. What does that say about this woman?
Dazed and confused – her theme song.
Does she ever look at anything other than her iPad?
Have you ever seen her talk unscripted? It’s a laugh riot, worthy of being broadcast on Saturday Night Live.
Already the PR campaign is in full swing. Check out this puff piece in the Daily Voice. Photo credit is given to Gwenn Hauck. Funny, it doesn’t look like a selfie. The lies are starting early.

Yes 5:03. I am shocked truly shocked at this type of cruelty to animals. It would have been a better picture if they turned the horses around.
” Daily Voice” Looks like our Mayor has them in his back pocket. I thought that the Daly Voice would be different. Well they have joined in with The Record and Ridgewood news. You got to give it to our Mayor he has some pull with the media.
I hope the 2 horses run in the next electro because anything would be better then Gwen and Albert
what a mess.
She is a caricature of an actual person. Nothing of any substance there. We all see it. She will never in a million years get re-elected.
“The councilwoman also pointed out reorganizations in various Ridgewood department , including a new chief financial officer and parking utility director, a new building department manager, a new water department and public works manager, a new human resources director and a new audit and accounting firm.”
Ok, Miss Gwenn, how much of this took responsibility away from your sainted Village Manager. For sure the HR Director, not to mention the $75K for the police department contract negotiator……both of these are supposed to be part of the VMs job. She is turning out to be the most expensive VM in our history. Thanks so much Gwen. For hiring her.
And thats just the ones we know about 8:27
Zoom ahead 15 yeara from 2016. GARAGE DISTRICT Seen as where VOR WENT TERRIBLY WRONG.small store vacancies due crime .Drug dealing in Garage all linked to proximity to train station combined with county

RIDGEWOOD WE ARE BEING TAKEN FOR A RIDE TO A BAD PLACE
Okay 1013, you can save us from the abyss…. get about 160 signatures on a nominating petition and run for office. You have 7 weeks to gather them… but spellcheck the petition first. Good luck.
Paul no need to be snide about spelling, these phones and ipads have minds of their own.
Lets focus on how horrendus traffic reversals will be as garage discharges post dinner events. Today visitors walk to Cars if not vallee parked some stop for desert at Sooks or browse new storefronts on way to car spots or suface parking in town
1249, use a surface pro or an android… easy spell correct, unlike apple…
Paul – OK, you are right, but still, people post in haste on blogs like these. Don’t get bogged down in typos, focus on the message.
Candidly most people in town do not read the blog and have no interest in local politics. It takes a very public campaign to advise the voters and motivate them. The hot button issues of the apartments, garage, valley, schools, and high taxes all get attention, so media other than the Internet must be used by an alternative candidate.
820… the message is more effective with correct spelling…. and 836, you are absolutely right … but an alternative candidate can get in, as has been proven previously… I’ll go back to the old standard of retail politicking absolutely works…
