Lodi NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JOEL CINCO (DOB: 9/10/1973; married; unemployed) of 242 Westervelt Place, Lodi, NJ on charges of murder, burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti.
On Thursday, May 26, 2022 at approximately 9:32 p.m., the Lodi Police Department received a 911 call reporting a stabbing at 242 Westervelt Place in Lodi. Upon their arrival at the residence, officers found 44-year-old Janet Cinco with apparent stab wounds. She was transported to the Hackensack University Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Lodi Police Department revealed that JOEL CINCO fatally stabbed his wife, Janet Cinco.
On Friday, May 27, 2022, JOEL CINCO was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1); second-degree burglary, N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2; third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d. JOEL CINCO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would also like to thank the Lodi Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
