Washington DC, a recent USA Today headline has sparked controversy over the politicization of the U.S. Justice Department. The article argues that President Donald Trump disrupted efforts—established after Watergate—to keep the DOJ free from presidential interference. But is that a fair assessment?

Has Biden Politicized the Justice System More Than Trump?

While Trump’s legal battles have dominated headlines, critics argue that President Joe Biden has overseen an unprecedented weaponization of the FBI and DOJ. Even the left-leaning Brookings Institution acknowledged that Biden has “repeatedly violated the post-Watergate norm against commenting on Justice Department investigations.”

Key Examples of DOJ Bias Under Biden

  • The Mar-a-Lago Raid – The Biden FBI conducted an unprecedented raid on Trump’s Florida home, searching even Melania Trump’s personal belongings.
  • January 6 Protesters – While hundreds were jailed for months without a speedy trial, many never even entered the Capitol.
  • Selective ProsecutionsTrump economic advisor Peter Navarro was imprisoned, while others from the Biden administration faced no consequences for similar actions.
  • Pro-Life vs. 2020 RiotersPro-life activists faced prosecution, yet many who burned businesses during the 2020 race riots were not charged.
  • Classified Documents Double StandardTrump was prosecuted for mishandling classified documents, while Biden faced no serious consequences despite being found with sensitive materials from his time as Vice President.

Is the DOJ Fair and Balanced?

These actions have fueled concerns that law enforcement agencies are being used for political gain, undermining public trust in the justice system. While every administration faces scrutiny over its handling of law enforcement, the Biden DOJ appears to be targeting political opponents in ways unseen in recent history.

  1. USA Today is a liberal rag run by Gannett. Gannett bought and ruined the Bergen Record and all the local weekly papers. They are far from unbiased.
