The headline which was later changed but it caused a lot of confusion for residents and parents .

In a Facebook post Ridgewood Board of Education member Saurabh Dani speaking only for himself cleared the air ,I can’t speak for the full board, only the board president can, but as far as I am concerned, there was no vote last night regarding a late start. Some of enquired about the status of late start efforts and we were told that the committee is still working on finalizing the details. As far as I am aware, there are no board members on this committee and no board members know the details of the plan yet. That was the discussion that took place last night, not an actual vote.”

Dani also added “, the article mentions 8:30 start time. Again, my personal opinion, not representing the board here, I don’t understand how we can make up for 45 minutes of lost instructions every day if the start time changes from 7:45 to 8:30. Once those details on the revised end time and the revised class duration are available, then only parents can provide any valuable inputs. Especially because we are already starting our school year later than the rest of the country and have less time for instructions for the May AP exams.

  4. Studying endlessly for standardized tests is not to be confused with education. Maybe you’re okay with that, but at least admit that you’re more concerned about future generations climbing the artificial rungs of the societal monkey bars than creating a fully-realized individual. More meaningful learning can happen in less time.
