Montvale EMT to be Honored for Heroic Rescue After Garden State Parkway Bus Crash

Montvale NJ, a Montvale emergency medical technician (EMT) is being recognized for his heroic actions following a devastating school bus crash on the Garden State Parkway.

Matt Goldman: A True Hometown Hero

Matt Goldman, a dedicated volunteer EMT with the Tri-Boro Volunteer Ambulance Corps, was driving home when he witnessed a bus carrying dozens of children overturn near Exit 172. Without hesitation, Goldman pulled over, rushed to the scene, and provided life-saving aid.

Among the injured, a 14-year-old boy was pinned beneath the wreckage. Goldman crawled underneath the bus, using his emergency medical training to stabilize the child and keep him alive until additional first responders arrived.

Montvale Honors Goldman’s Bravery

In recognition of his courage and quick thinking, Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali has named Goldman the town’s 2025 Hometown Hero.

  2. Great situational awareness and quick into action. think a lot of us would do the same. From when I was a boy I always wanted to be a hero. I always wanted to save someones life. I will always be on standby.

    1. Study Ridgewood’s water situation. They need heroes too. Convince the Village to sell the utility.
