So, how are Americans getting away? “Workcations” or “hush trips” are the latest travel trend and a new nationwide survey from GoCity finds roughly a third of remote workers have already taken one and worked while on a leisure trip.

Getting ready for spring break? Be sure to pack your laptop! “Workcations” are exploding in popularity as Americans combine their vacation time with the ability to work remotely.
More than 1 in 3 Americans (36%) have already embraced this trend and taken a workcation themselves, so laptops on the beach and conference calls by the pool could be the new norm for spring break this year.
- 77% say workcations allow them to be more flexible with travel and PTO time
- 1 in 4 plans to extend upcoming trips by working remotely
- Nearly 1 in 10 plans to work remotely from Florida in 2023
Gen Z is the driving force behind the trend as 50% say they plan to take a workcation in 2023. That’s nearly double the 24% of Gen X, 26% of Millennials, and 22% of Baby Boomers doing the same.
