Demarest, NJ: The Regina Angelorum Chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed 86 of the Academy of the Holy Angels’ top scholars during the first-ever online induction ceremony. AHA science teacher and NHS Moderator Sharon Jureller presented the event virtually due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
NHS Chapter President Annabel Hazrati displayed images of four lighted candles in recognition of the inductees’ scholarship, service, leadership, and character. NHS members must also demonstrate honesty, reliability, concern and respect for others, resourcefulness, and leadership qualities including willingness to share ideas and the ability to solve problems. Members are required to assist the school and the greater community through individual and chapter-run service projects.
AHA Principal Jean Miller read the names of each inductee. This year’s honorees include:

Chapter Vice President Sophia Casali presented the pledge, which was followed by a brief speech from AHA Dean of Academics Francesca Tambone-Puzio. Tambone-Puzio congratulated the inductees for earning this position of honor and respect. She acknowledged the students’ strong work ethic, noting that they do more than what is required. The dean also commented on the encouragement each inductee receives at home, and concluded with a quote from Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Congratulations, Angels!
