Ridgewood NJ, fans of Ridgewood Native Harlan Coben’s suspense-filled thrillers have a reason to celebrate! Netflix has officially announced the release date for its next adaptation of the author’s work. Titled Missing You, the highly anticipated series will debut on January 1, 2025, just in time to kick off the new year with a dose of mystery and drama.
A Proven Partnership Between Coben and Netflix
Missing You continues the successful collaboration between Netflix and Coben, who has seen several of his novels brought to life on the streaming platform. Earlier this year, the adaptation of Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan, Richard Armitage, and Joanna Lumley, captivated audiences and became one of Netflix’s most-watched series.
This time, the focus shifts to Coben’s 2014 New York Times bestseller, Missing You, a gripping tale intertwining love, murder, and technology. The series, produced by Quay Street Productions, will consist of five one-hour episodes.
The Story of Missing You
Netflix’s synopsis teases a captivating plot:
“Eleven years ago, Kat’s fiancé Josh, the love of her life, vanished without a trace, and she hasn’t heard from him since. Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again.”
Josh’s unexpected reappearance forces Kat to confront the mystery of her father’s murder and uncover secrets long buried in her past. While the novel is set in New York, the Netflix adaptation shifts the story to the UK, with filming taking place in the northwest of England.
An All-Star Cast
Rosalind Eleazar, known for her role in Slow Horses, takes the lead as Kat. Ashley Walters, celebrated for his performance in Top Boy, stars as Josh, the missing fiancé.
The supporting cast is equally impressive, featuring Richard Armitage, a familiar face in Coben’s adaptations such as The Stranger and Stay Close. Lenny Henry, Jessica Plummer, and James Nesbitt also join the ensemble, adding even more star power to the production.
What’s Next?
While Netflix has yet to release a trailer, first-look images provide a glimpse of the characters and hint at the intrigue to come. With its New Year’s Day premiere, Missing You promises to deliver a thrilling start to 2025.
Mark your calendars, mystery lovers—this is one series you won’t want to miss!
