the staff of The Ridgewood Blog
Ridgewood NJ, with talks of a new performing arts center heating up, our staff predicts that talks of building an additional multi-million dollar parking deck/garage can’t be too far behind.
A performing arts center located in the now vacant Warner Theatre/Bow Tie Cinema building on the east end of East Ridgewood Avenue is the desire of many. Unfortunately, the Hudson Street Parking Garage is a bit of hike from that location.
So, would an additional deck/garage even be needed? And if so, what would the ideal location be for construction of same? Finally, how would such an endeavor be funded and managed?
Let us hear from all of you, please. Thanks.

Performances are typically scheduled in the evening when most Ridgewood businesses on that end of the Avenue are closed. No need for any more parking; plenty of open spaces at night.
The space is available for lease. In a town with 20+ vacancies. What makes anyone so sure it will be a PAC?
Are we all certain there’s a profitable business plan in a new regional Performing Arts Center?
Really?
With Englewood and Morristown already open for business?
Is it because “PFAS Paulie the CBD visionary” says so?
Well, that’s not the only way its being marketed…hmmm…
From the RIPCO listing:
Potential performing arts center space including main and mezzanine levels
LEASING OPTIONS:
1. Conversion to performing arts center
2. Conversion to retail and/or restaurant space
The seating capacity of any performing arts center can’t exceed the seating capacity of the building when it was a movie theater. There was no additional parking needed for the movie theater, therefore no additional parking should be needed for the performance center.
The Ridgewood Guild representative talked about 800 seats below and 200 seats upstairs if the new facility would be built. that is 1,000 people coming to Ridgewood. Perhaps good for local establishments but may cause a bit of havoc because much of the street parking would be taken away. I guess you can’t have it both ways.
All happening at night when retail and service businesses are closed anyway. No additional parking needed.
Oh Lordy another disaster in the making
There will be a shuttle bus from the town garage to the performing arts center.
If the pac is similar to mayo in morristown or other pacs, local businesses will flourish. More restaurants, less barbershops and nail salons.
Run a shuttle bus between the performing arts center and the Hudson Street garage.
They can do a meet and greet with the folks who will be stationed there ready to write the tickets the second the parking time expires.
Or the folks picking up 1,000 small poland spring bottles
At this point, let them do what they want. Because you can scream yell cry they don’t care they’re going to do whatever they want. Just keep on floating bonds no worry about it the villages one revolving door with residence. People retiring, leaving the town, all new people from the city moving in starting families, the days are retiring and staying in the village for 50 years are over stop dreaming.
Or, we can add additional WATER capacity so that residents of this first-class town can simply water their lawns.
Can’t anyone walk from the parking deck to the theatre. It’s about 3 blocks.
These people must think we are sitting on piles of money they can take from us because we are so incredibly stupid.
Oh, wait…
I forgot….
We ARE
RICH and STUPID …and THEY KNOW IT.
Shuttle bus??? It’s .3 miles from the theatre to the garage.
Yeah, but it’s a “bit of a hike” according to the post. A five minute hike. And let me tell you, anywhere that takes five minutes to get to, isn’t worth going to.
Has anyone seen the blueprints for the parking garage behind the library And village hall. I have.
Is it any wonder why many of us who grew up and lived here for years are moving out. The charm and quaintness has been long gone. We are paying for an unused eyesore of a garage among higher and higher taxes
For what? If we wanted to live in Hackensack or Paramus we would
So sad. Our town has become unrecognizable. Time to move on
Remember to thank your pilot Vagianos and the idiotic bobble head flight attendants Perron, Weitz and Winograd for the bumpy ride to nowheresville while they pick your pocket for their special interest projects like the CBD and Schedler.
Are they testing the toxic soil at Habernickel or just ignoring it until someone get sick?
Well, don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
