RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Driver and pedestrian safety is getting a proactive upgrade in the Village of Ridgewood. According to an announcement from Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark, a new infrastructure project is scheduled to begin this week at one of the town’s central parking structures.
Beginning on Thursday, July 9th, crews will start installing a brand-new safety barrier on the fourth floor of the Hudson Street Parking Garage.
The strategic addition of this barrier is designed to enhance public safety by preventing individuals from sitting or standing dangerously along the outer edges of the garage structure.
Expected Construction Timeline & Parking Impacts
While this project represents the Village’s ongoing commitment to maintaining top-tier, safe public facilities, it will temporarily impact local parking availability.
If you regularly use the downtown parking deck, keep these details in mind for your upcoming commute:
-
Project Duration: Construction is expected to take approximately one week to complete.
-
4th Floor Closure: The entire fourth floor of the Hudson Street Parking Garage will be completely closed to all traffic during the active construction window.
-
1st Floor Restrictions: To safely accommodate construction crews, equipment, and activities, 10 parking spaces on the first floor will also be temporarily unavailable.
Planning Your Visit to Downtown Ridgewood
Local officials are asking for the public’s patience, cooperation, and extra caution while driving through the construction zones over the next week. Visitors to downtown Ridgewood should plan for slightly longer arrival times or look for alternative municipal parking lots during peak hours to avoid delays.
The structural upgrades are a vital step in keeping Ridgewood’s public infrastructure safe for everyone.

It’s a fence.
Apparently it will keep the little dummies safer, until they start climbing the fence.
They should call this the money pit parking lot, ridiculous. This place needs to be packed every day for 15 years to pay for itself. Not including the maintenance that goes along and by then you’ll be lucky to get 20 years out of it, I’m sure they probably 20 million into it. By now, look at all the equipment they had to buy to maintain it, special apparatus for cleaning maintenance ridiculous
Yes, but they have a PARKING GARAGE.
Think of it like the relics (bones, skeletons, pieces of the original cross, etc.) that older churches have to attract pilgrims and donations…………….
And they’re actually talking about building another park, garage, an old side you know where they should build a parking garage right behind a village hall, the library, vet’s field . That is exactly where they can use parking and we have a shuttle bus that we can utilize on weekends the shuttle shoppers from that parking lot right into the C b d. Engine engineering has to plant that’s been done a long time ago.
I love it.
