New York NY , The New Jersey State Police Office of Target Hardening would like to inform all drone operators of the current “Special Use Airspace” restriction in place around the US Naval Hospital Ship Comfort, which is currently docked at Pier 90 in Manhattan and providing medical support to New York City during the current coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic.

There has been an increase in drone activity in and around the USNS Comfort, and the Office of Target Hardening would like to remind drone operators to check their airspace prior to any flight. Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operators who violate the flight restrictions may be subject to enforcement action, including potential civil penalties and criminal charges.
Violators may also face security enforcement action that results in the interference, disruption, seizure, damaging or destruction of unmanned aircraft considered to pose a safety or security threat to protected U.S. Navy assets.
