CEO Ousted at Sports Illustrated’s Parent Company Amid AI Content Controversy

Ridgewood NJ, the Arena Group, the parent company of Sports Illustrated, has announced the removal of CEO Ross Levinsohn following controversies surrounding the alleged use of artificial intelligence (AI) in content production. Recent reports by tech and culture site Futurism suggested that Sports Illustrated published articles written by AI, incorporating headshots from an AI marketplace without disclosure. The Arena Group initially denied the claims, asserting that the articles were product reviews and licensed content from an external third-party company. The ensuing backlash has ignited discussions on AI’s role in media, raising questions about media credibility and ethical implications. Last week, Operations President Andrew Kraft, Media President Rob Barrett, and Corporate Counsel Julie Fenster were dismissed. Manoj Bhargava, founder of 5-hour Energy, will serve as interim CEO during this transitional period.

Arroyo said, ” Montvale’s Mayor Mike Ghassali sent me a copy of what AI has to say about Westwood. And what it says sounds alot more accurate and authentic than “artificial”.
It shouldn’t take a computer to tell us that we have far more for which to be optimistic and thankful, rather than discouraged and discontented.

Ridgewood NJ, Microsoft announced yesterday it is expanding its partnership with OpenAI, the start-up behind the viral ChatGPT chatbot (see overview), with a multiyear, multibillion-dollar investment. Specific financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but reports say Microsoft is expected to invest $10B, in addition to the $3B it has already invested since 2019.

Google’s Top Secret New Project Teaching Artificial Intelligence to Write and Fix Code

Ridgewood NJ, Google is working on a tool that uses machine learning to train code to write, fix, and update itself. The project started inside Alphabet’s X research unit. Codenamed Pitchfork, the project is now part of a new group at Google Labs named the AI Developer Assistance team. Its original goal was to build a tool that could update Google’s Python codebase to a newer version. What could possibly go wrong with that ?

Facebook AI systems will see, hear, and remember everything you do

Ridgewood NJ, Ego4D is a research project at Facebook that is using first-person video data to train AI to develop skills such as episodic memory, forecasting, and audio-visual diarization. It could result in AI systems that can remember who said what when and answer questions such as ‘where did I leave my keys?’. Facebook stresses that this is a research project rather than a commercial development. It partnered with 13 universities to record 3,205 hours of first-person footage for researchers to use to train AI systems.
