Reader says ,”parents, are the cause of bullying and everything else that is ailing our children”

Ridgewood Schools schools were cleared of the shelter in place Order

” The adults , parents, are the cause of bullying and everything else that is ailing our children. It is the adults who can’t get enough “screen time;” at stop signs you see them looking at their phones behind the wheel before the lightchanges; adults are ALWAYS on the phone, even when they are walking their dogs. What do you expect from the kids.
65 years ago when I was a kid, you called another kid for example, “fatty fatty two by four couldn’t get through the bathroom door etc. The the fat kid did not commit suicide, did not quit school, went right on living his life. Soon the taunt was forgotten. The taunt,” fatty fatty etc. could not go viral because there was no internet, assholes, so it could be forgotten about by the perpetrators as well as the victims. YOU PARENTS are TO BLAME FOR YOUR CHILDREN’S SUICIDES AND DRUGS AND EVERYTHING ELSE. LOOK IN THE MIRROR. ( Kids take drugs to escape the pain from social media, from the internet, smart phone.) “

Ridgewood NJ, This year Ridgewood, NJ is celebrating its 125th anniversary! To commemorate the occasion, the Village of Ridgewood is holding a series of events to highlight various moments from the past, and to look forward to our future. On this page we will be posting your favorite memories and experiences. Watch this space for announcements, trivia, and stories about the village’s past, present, and future.

The building at 49 Cottage Place, was built in 1894 and remains a symbol of Ridgewood’s beginnings. As a result of a growing population accelerated by nearby railroads, Ridgewood needed a newer and larger schoolhouse. The first vote, overwhelmingly positive, called for a wooden building. Town wives convinced their husbands that wood would be unsafe, and the town found enough money to build the current structure, known today as the Education Center. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Ridgewood NJ, As more than 1.4 million students across New Jersey return to school next week, the State Division of Highway Traffic Safety and the New Jersey Department of Education are calling on motorists and students to be extra vigilant on the roadways and obey traffic laws, especially in school zones and along school bus routes.

The first weeks of school can be the most dangerous time on the road for students as they acclimate to rising early and crossing busy streets, and as motorists adjust to sharing the road with school buses.

Big Push to Improve New Jersey’s anti-bullying statutes

Trenton NJ, After a recent television news investigation into school bullying found the danger may be more prevalent than state statistics show, Senator Joe Pennacchio urged the General Assembly to pass his Mallory’s Law legislation bolstering New Jersey’s anti-bullying statutes.

The News 12 New Jersey report indicates school districts may be significantly under-reporting bullying cases. One district reported nine incidents to the state in three years, while school board minutes showed 27 in the same period.

“We need to stop this nonsense and prevent the under-reporting of bullying that is going on, and my bill will help do that,” said Pennacchio, whose bipartisan bill (S3433) passed the Senate in June with unanimous support, although the Assembly version has not moved. “We’re going to force schools to keep better records.”

“NJEA members have seen the profound impact that political decisions have on their lives and on the lives of their students,” said NJEA President Marie Blistan. “NJEA members have always been active participants in the political process, because we care about our profession and our students. As the burden of Ch. 78 and the lack of job justice for educational support professionals (ESP) make clear, it is more important than ever that we elect candidates who share our priorities and values.”

Growing Skills Gap in College Grads

RHS 2017

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, the ugly reality is that America devotes more resources to higher education than other high-income countries . For about half of the approximately 2 million high school graduates that will enroll this fall in a quest for a four-year degree, and college for many will prove a lousy investment  both for the nation and those students who will emerge heavily in debt.

The guiding premise beneath federal student loan programs beginning with the 1958 National Defense Education Act is that  college is a good investment. For the nation, a better-prepared labor force increases productivity, and for students, because graduates earn better pay.
