Fairview NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 44-year-old CARLOS M. LEON of Fairview, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Fairview Police Department, under the direction of Chief Vincent Belucci.

Second SWAT Standoff Same Suspect

Cliffside Park NJ, a tense, five-hour standoff in Cliffside Park concluded late Friday evening, November 28th, after the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team deployed tear gas to take an armed man into custody. The suspect, identified as Oliver Checo, was wanted in connection with an unprovoked knife attack on a store owner in neighboring Fairview just hours earlier.

Second Suspect Apprehended in Garfield Shooting

Garfield NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the apprehension of JONATHAN M. ORTIZ, of Garfield, NJ, who was previously a fugitive from justice, and an additional charge filed against 20-year-old MIKHI MADDOX ODUM of Garfield, NJ. Both men are in custody and facing several charges each in relation to a shooting that occurred in Garfield, NJ on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The additional charge and the apprehension of the second defendant are the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Garfield Police Department, under the direction of Chief Joseph Delaney.

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests and indictments of 21-year-old OMAR I. CETINER of Hackensack, NJ; 20-year-old ISLAM A. SALAAM of Hackensack, NJ; and 29-year-old ALAN A. VALDEZ-METZ of Paterson, NJ related to an armed robbery investigation. Prosecutor Musella also announced charges against a 17-year-old juvenile from Paterson, NJ. Also related to this investigation, Prosecutor Musella announced the arrest and indictment of 23-year-old MICHAEL N. FENNER of Hackensack, NJ on CDS-related offenses. The arrests, charges, and indictments are the result of a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Hackensack Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Antista.
