UPDATE: Mysterious Substance Spill Leads to Early Closing of the Glen Rock Middle School and Glen Rock High School

Glen Rock NJ, on Monday morning, 10/02, chemical spill inside of the Glen Rock Middle School and High School forced school administrators to dismiss all students at 12 noon, and to order the cancellation of all programs scheduled to take place at the facility on Monday afternoon and evening. Emergency responders at the scene were tight lipped as to what spilled, but school officials did say the incident happened in an office area. An individual was said to have been transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital, but no confirmation of this report was available on scene. Vehicles from multiple public safety agencies were seen parked in front of the school building for hours.

School Bus Explodes in Flames in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, Flames completely engulfed a van used to transport school children just moments after all of the children and their driver had been safely evacuated to a nearby strip mall on Thursday afternoon, 01/24. The raging fire was extinguished by members of Fair Lawn Fire Department Fire Companies 2 & 4, Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, Bergen County Hazmat, Glen Rock Police , Glen Rock Fire Department, and Fair Lawn Fire Department also responded to the incident which was located in the parking lot of an office building at 266 Harristown Road, Glen Rock.

Bergen Hazmat Called in on Chemical Spill in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters and Bergen County Hazmat technicians responded a reported chemical substance lining a storm drain near 132 Circle Avenue, Ridgewood on Thursday afternoon, 01/10. The substance was tested and determined to be discharge from a dry chemical fire extinguisher. Two (2) Ridgewood firefighters donned full protective gear, including self contained breathing apparatus, and removed the substance from the storm drain’s walls & floor. No injuries were reported.

Paramus NJ, A late Thursday afternoon, 06/15, fire in a computer server room at Bergen Community College’s Paramus campus forced the temporary evacuation of a building and warranted the response of Borough of Paramus and County of Bergen HazMat teams due to the activation of a fm200 chemical agent fire suppression system. A Paramus EMS ambulance crew was called to stand by at the fire scene, but was shortly released by fire department supervisors after it was determined that no one was injured when the suppression system activated. Damage was reported to at least one (1) computer server. Bergen County Sheriff’s officers were also observed at the scene. Paramus FD and Rescue Squad personnel were active within the fire building.
