Six Challengers Face off Against Two Incumbents for the Ridgewood School Board Seats in November

Ridgewood NJ , the petitions for the Ridgewood Board of Education are in , with two incumbents will face off against six challengers . Current trustees Saurabh Dani and Michael Lembo  will face off against Josephine Jarolmen, Julie Mchedlishvili, Laura McKenna and Mary Micale all filed to run independently  and Claude Guinchard II and Malcolm Jennings who submitted petitions together.

Ridgewood NJ, Much to the dismay of elected Ridgewood Board of Education members, during their Monday night public meeting, it was revealed that the much discussed and long awaited “World Language Curriculum” for elementary school students would include instruction in only Chinese, French, and German (that’s right; there were no plans developed to provide instruction in Spanish).

Ridgewood NJ, we were quite surprised on Monday night when Michelle Fenwick, Director of Special Programs for the Ridgewood Public Schools, lost her cool while participating via an audio Zoom connection in a public meeting of the Board of Education. The discussion topic that triggered Dr. Fenwick’s fit was the proposed expansion of leased space at a building on Oak Street used by STEPSS (School Transition and Employment Program for Student Success) students.

Ridgewood Public Schools Announces Schools will be Closed Friday, May 26, 2023

UNUSED EMERGENCY DAYS ANNOUNCEMENT

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Board of Education ,each year, Ridgewood Public Schools incorporates emergency closing days into our school calendar. This year, the District did not use all of the allotted days. Therefore, after reviewing the calendar for the remainder of the current school year, the district has decided that schools will be closed Friday, May 26, 2023 provided there is no need for the use of an additional emergency day prior to that date.
