Ridgewood NJ, October 8th and 9th – Beginning at 12 Noon – Everyone is invited to Oktoberfest in Ridgewood’s West Village, in the Wilsey Square and Train Station Parking Lots – Come and enjoy hayrides (traveling on Heights Road and Crest Road with “The View” of NYC from 12 Noon to 5:00 p.m.), food, pumpkin painting, a scarecrow-making contest, a tent of vendors, toss games, sidewalk chalking, ice cream, and a full weekend of music during the day and into the night.

If there is bad weather, the sale will be held inside the stores.  The Mom’s Club will also hold an Arts & Craft Activity Fair for young children at Memorial Park at Van Neste Square on October 8th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a rain date of October 9th.

Sherry was a single mom from Taiwan who didn’t speak English when she arrived.  Wow, 35 years in business is quite an achievement and an amazing success story !

Ridgewood NJ, it was a beautiful Friday evening for the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce 27th Annual car show . The car show has become one of the big must go events for the Village over the last 27 years. Residents and visitors from all over Bergen County flooded the central business district , to what many auto enthusiasts call the best car show in the county .  Resident photographer Boyd Loving captured some great images of the event and all the amazing cars .

Ridgewood NJ, many residents understand the importance of a vital and prosperous central business district. However there are great differences of opinion on what that actually means. To some it’s more outdoor dining ,plenty of parking , to others it’s pedestrian plaza but most residents want to see storefronts bustling with business activity . Often lost in the debate is simple maintenance . Clean streets and well manicured planters , no trash or garbage are shoppers and visitors’ first  impression.

Store Ceiling Falls on Patron in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, an adult female occupant of a retail store located at 41 Hudson Street, Ridgewood was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital as a result of non-life threatening injuries she sustained when a portion of the storefront’s dropped ceiling collapsed on her late Saturday afternoon, 08/20. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Deparment, and Ridgewood EMS personnel and equipment responded to aid the victim. There was no structural damage reported.

Grab and Go Parking Spaces in Ridgewood’s Central Business District Will Be Gone as of September 30, 2022

Ridgewood NJ, Grab and Go parking spaces, which provide for 15 minutes of free parking in the Central Business District, are off of East Ridgewood Avenue, on Oak Street, Chestnut Street, South Broad Street, and Prospect Street. These spaces, which are sponsored by local establishments and various residents, are helpful for a quick errand or for picking up a food order at a restaurant. After the 15 minutes have expired, the driver must move their car or a summons may be issued. The Grab and Go parking spaces will be removed as of September 30, 2022, with new parking guidelines beginning in October. More information on the new parking guidelines will be explained in a future E-Notice.
