Sommerville NJ, Jack Ciattarelli, Republican candidate for New Jersey Governor, released the following statement ahead of Phil Murphy’s announcement of a mask mandate for New Jersey’s public school students:
“Governor Phil Murphy has done it again. His decision to require masks for K-12 students is a bewildering reversal of his position of just a few weeks ago. Let me be clear, I oppose Governor Murphy’s mask mandate for students. The science is clear: nearly all children who contract COVID-19 are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and wearing masks for children is terrible for their social and emotional development. Bottom line, whether a child wears a mask should be decided by parents, not government. If someone wants to have their child wear a mask, they should feel free to do so, but it’s not something that should be forced on children, nor should their learning be inhibited in any way. Finally, this feels like the first step towards another Murphy lockdown, which is something our children, businesses, and taxpayers cannot afford or are willing to accept.”

Ridgewood NJ, despite the data and the real science the Centers for Disease Control recommends that anyone living in a county considered at substantial or high risk for the spread of COVID-19 should wear a mask in public indoor spaces, even if they are vaccinated. These are the counties at substantial or high risk in New Jersey. “It Makes No Sense and the Science Doesn’t Support It” Dr. Paul on New Mask Mandates July 29, 2021
A face mask provides protection to those around you, as well as yourself. Face masks act as barriers for respiratory droplets. Whether you’re coughing and the droplets catch in the inside of your own mask, or if you’re near to someone else coughing and their droplets hit the outside of your mask – it protects both people. Encouraging mask wearing to those who have been vaccinated is admitting the vaccines don’t work .

Ridgewood NJ, According to provisional data released by the US CDC this week, more than 93,000 people died of a drug overdose in 2020, a nearly 30% increase over the number of overdose deaths in 2019. This estimate is the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded and the largest percent increase since 1999. Public health agencies continue to fight the opioid epidemic, declared a public health emergency by the US government in 2017, but health departments were overwhelmed by the demands put on them during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, non-COVID-19 programs suffered.
