Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy patted himself on the back for New Jersey’s second statewide minimum wage increase from $10 to $11 per hour, taking effect today, January 1, 2020. The increase is part of a gradual increase in the minimum wage to $15/hour under legislation signed by Governor Murphy in February 2019. When Governor Murphy took office in 2018, the State’s minimum wage was $8.60 per hour.

Perhaps if the governors failed policies of constant tax increases and taxes on everything did not destroy the already morbid New Jersey economy we  would celebrating  job growth like the rest of the country .

Trenton NJ,  Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal today announced that five current and former public officials and political candidates in New Jersey – including Jersey City School Board President Sudhan Thomas and former State Assemblyman Jason O’Donnell – have been charged with taking bribes in a major investigation of political corruption in Hudson and Morris counties conducted by the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability (OPIA).

The five defendants are charged with taking thousands of dollars in bribes from a cooperating witness in the form of campaign contributions. In return, the defendants allegedly promised the cooperating witness, who is a tax attorney, that they would vote or use their official authority or influence to hire or continue to hire his law firm for lucrative government legal work. Envelopes and paper bags filled with cash – and even a coffee cup stuffed with cash – were delivered to the defendants by the cooperating witness at restaurants, parking lots, a political fundraiser, and a campaign headquarters. Other times the cooperating witness offered checks from illegal “straw donors” – individuals reimbursed to write checks to the defendant’s campaign in amounts that complied with the legal limit on individual donations.

TRENTON NJ, A Senate bill, S 4204, which is expected to be voted on Thursday in the New Jersey Senate Labor Committee, would drastically alter New Jersey’s legal definition of independent contractors—a change that would hurt free-lance business owners, small subcontractors, and the businesses that contract with those companies. NFIB, a small business association with thousands of members in the state, adamantly opposes this bill and is concerned about the turmoil it would create within the small business community.

Yes You Can a $250 Fine for Warming Up Your Car in New Jersey

PuffersI Team

by Rich Pezzullo

Ridgewood NJ, I didn’t believe it until I read it myself. New Jersey State Code, section 15, you risk a $250 fine. – § 7:27-15.8 Idle standard – (a) No person shall cause, suffer, allow, or permit the engine of a gasoline-fueled motor vehicle to idle for more than three consecutive minutes if the vehicle is not in motion.

Nearly all county health departments have been delegated authority to enforce the new idling standards. In addition, State and local police departments can enforce the standard on public roadways and on private property.

Yep, the police can ticket you for idling in your driveway.
