Ridgewood NJ,  NJ TRANSIT will offer “early getaway’’ rail and bus service on Tuesday, July 3, for the benefit of customers leaving work early in anticipation of the Independence Day holiday on Wednesday, July 4. In addition, there will be service changes throughout the NJ TRANSIT system on July 4.

To help speed the getaway, customers are reminded that they can enjoy the convenience of purchasing tickets through the MyTix feature on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Beverages of any kind, in any type of container, open or closed, will not be permitted on board train/bus/light rail cars. This policy will be strictly enforced. As a reminder, beverages of any kind are not permitted at any time on board buses regardless of the event.

On Tuesday, July 3:

Starting at approximately 1:00 p.m., extra outbound service will operate on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines to accommodate early customer departures. Visit www.njtransit.com for details.

Many bus lines will feature service adjustments throughout the day. Visit www.njtransit.com more information.
All light rail systems will operate on regular weekday schedules.

On Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4:

Trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule on all lines, with these additions:
Additional Bay Head-Long Branch trains on the North Jersey Coast line (which began service 6/24); see NJCL timetable for details HERE.
An additional train departing Port Jervis at 4:09 p.m., which makes all stops to Suffern, then operates express to Secaucus Junction and Hoboken.
NJ TRANSIT will adjust Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) for the Jersey City Freedom Fireworks Festival at Exchange Place.

Between 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

At the request of public safety officials, beginning at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. light rail vehicles will travel through Exchange Place but will bypass the Exchange Place stop. Customers will not be able to board or exit light rail vehicles at Exchange Place during this time. Customers may use Essex St. or Harborside as alternates.

Beginning at 2:00 p.m.:

Tonnelle Avenue and Hoboken Terminal southbound trains will terminate at Harborside.
West Side Avenue and 8th Street northbound trains will terminate at Essex Street.
There will be no direct light rail service from 8th Street to Hoboken Terminal or from Tonnelle Avenue to West Side Avenue.
Normal HBLR service will resume when the New Jersey Transit Police Department determines it is safe to reopen Exchange Place to light rail traffic.
Newark Light Rail will operate on a Saturday schedule.
River Line will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is kicking off the Memorial Day weekend with “early getaway” rail and bus service on Friday, May 25 for the benefit of customers leaving work early. To help speed the getaway, customers are encouraged to enjoy the convenience of purchasing tickets through the MyTix feature of the NJ TRANSIT mobile app.

In addition to giving customers a jump on the unofficial start of summer, NJ TRANSIT is making it easy and affordable to get to fun in the sun around the state with a variety of discounted summer savings packages.

Friday, May 25:

From approximately 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., extra outbound trains will operate, stops will be added, select connections will be adjusted. To accommodate the earlier ridership demand, select trains between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be cancelled or combined on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex, Pascack Valley and Main/Bergen County/Port Jervis lines. Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27:

Rail:

The Bay Head-Long Branch shuttle is enhanced to hourly service from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Bus:

Weekend shuttle service resumes between Toms River and Seaside Park on Bus Route No. 137. The bus leaves Toms River at 11:25 a.m. with the return departure from Seaside Park at 6:25 p.m. This service runs every weekend and holiday through the end of June, when direct service resumes from New York on Bus Route No. 137 and Newark Bus Route No. 67. Light Rail:

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule.
Newark Light Rail will operate on a Saturday and Sunday schedule respectively.
River LINE will operate on a Saturday and Sunday schedule respectively.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 28:

Trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule on all lines.

Beach Packages: Board a train anywhere on NJ TRANSIT’s rail system (excluding Atlantic City Rail Line stations) and save up to $5.50 on admission to one of five beaches — Long Branch, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach or Belmar—by purchasing round-trip train fare and a discounted beach admission for one price at NJ TRANSIT ticket vending machines (choose “Beach/Monmouth Park Packages” and select “Beach Package”) or at ticket windows. Beach Packages will be available on weekends and holidays from May 26 through June 17 and then daily starting Monday, June 18 and continuing through Labor Day, Monday, September 3.

Six Flags Great Adventure and Safari or Hurricane Harbor: Save up to $38 by purchasing round-trip bus transportation and park admission together.

For the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the program will be extended and in effect from 7 p.m. Friday, May 25 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 29.

Travel tips

Check Schedules in Advance: Plan your trip online or with the NJ TRANSIT mobile app to take advantage of extra trains and buses.
Allow Extra Travel Time: Traffic congestion during the long holiday weekend may affect bus travel times especially on routes using the Garden State Parkway heading down the shore. Customers should plan accordingly.
Ticketing: Purchase round-trip tickets at the start of your trip to speed your return. Use the MyTix feature on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app, ticket vending machines or see a ticket agent, if available, to avoid possible surcharges. Bus customers departing Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) are reminded that tickets must be purchased before boarding the bus.
Luggage: Travel as light as possible. Passengers with luggage or packages should use the overhead racks or designated luggage spaces. On multilevel trains, customers with large bags should use the mezzanine levels at the ends of each car.

Ridgewood NJ,  NJ TRANSIT will offer “early getaway’’ rail and bus service on Friday, June 30, for the benefit of customers leaving work early and taking a four-day weekend, in anticipation of the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 4th. In addition, there are changes to service throughout the NJ TRANSIT system that will take place on July 4th.

To help speed the getaway, customers are reminded that they can enjoy the convenience of purchasing tickets through the MyTix feature on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app.

Customers planning to use Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) service to and from Liberty State Park for the July 4th Jersey City “Freedom & Fireworks Festival’’ from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. will encounter crowds and possible delays. Customers are strongly advised to purchase roundtrip tickets in advance.

A reminder that liquid containers of any kind, open or closed, will not be permitted on any NJ TRANSIT train or light rail vehicle on July 4. Beverages of any kind are prohibited at all times on board buses.  Extra police patrols will be out on all modes of transit.

On Friday, June 30:

Extra outbound trains will operate on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines starting at approximately 1 p.m. to get customers home early. Please visit www.njtransit.com for details.

An extra train departing Port Jervis at 4:09 p.m., which makes all stops to Suffern, then operates express to Secaucus Junction and Hoboken.

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on an enhanced weekend schedule.  Customers using the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) service to and from Liberty State Park for the July 4th Jersey City Freedom & Fireworks Festival from 1 to 10 p.m. will encounter crowds and delays. Please build enough time into travel plans.

Beach Packages:  Save up to $5.00 on admission to one of five beaches— Long Branch, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach and Belmar—by purchasing round-trip train fare and a discounted beach pass for one price at NJ TRANSIT ticket vending machines (choose “Beach/Monmouth Park Packages” and select “Beach Package”) or at ticket windows.  Customers can purchase the package at all NJ TRANSIT rail stations, excluding stations on the Atlantic City Rail Line.  Beach Packages go on sale on the following four Fridays:  May 27, June 3, 10 and 17 at 7 a.m. and are valid throughout the weekend and on holidays.  Beach Packages will be available daily starting Saturday, June 18 and continuing through Labor Day, Monday, September 5.

Six Flags Great Adventure and Safari or Hurricane Harbor:  Save up to $30 by purchasing round-trip bus transportation and park admission together.  NJ TRANSIT provides express bus service to Six Flags from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York and Newark Penn Station.

Monmouth Park:  Board a train anywhere on NJ TRANSIT’s rail system, excluding Atlantic City Rail Line stations, and save $5.50 when you travel to Monmouth Park Racetrack.  Simply purchase a package to Monmouth Park from NJ TRANSIT ticket vending machines (choose “Beach/Monmouth Park Packages” and select “Monmouth Park”) or at ticket windows, and receive round-trip transportation, Grandstand Admission and an official track program for $3.50 plus the regular cost of a round-trip rail ticket.

Liberty Science Center:  Beginning June 1, save $5 per person for up to four general admission, combo ticket and/or all-access passes when you travel on  NJ TRANSIT and show your ticket, pass or fare receipt at Liberty Science Center.  General admission passes include live science demonstrations, hands-on labs, and a variety of daily activities.  Combo and all-access passes provide options for films and premium exhibits.

Money-Saving Family Super Saver Fare in Effect For Holiday Period

ALCOHOL NOT PERMITTED ON ALL NJ TRANSIT VEHICLES DURING HOBOKEN SANTACON

Ridgewood NJ,  NJ TRANSIT is prohibiting alcoholic beverages on all of its trains, light rail vehicles and buses on Saturday December 19th and Sunday December 20th to coincide with the annual Hoboken SantaCon event. According to NJT this policy will be strictly enforced   and a reminder: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on NJ TRANSIT buses at any time regardless of event.

NJ TRANSIT is offering extra service for the upcoming holidays to give customers more travel options, whether going to the mall for last-minute shopping, leaving work early for the holidays, or attending New Year’s Eve festivities.

In addition, NJ TRANSIT is giving customers almost two weeks of continuous savings through a special extension of the Family Super Saver Fare, which allows up to two children 11 and younger to travel free with each fare-paying adult.  Usually limited to weekends, the Family Super Saver Fare will be in effect for the entire holiday period, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 24 until 6 a.m. Monday, January 4, on all trains, buses and light rail lines.

NJ TRANSIT customer service representatives and volunteers will be deployed at major facilities throughout the holiday weekend to assist customers with their travels.

On Thursday, December 24, trains will operate on a weekday schedule on all lines with additional “early getaway” service from New York Penn Station, Newark Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal starting at 1 p.m. on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines.  Newark Light Rail, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and River Line will operate on a weekday schedule.  Buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule on most routes, with early getaway service from the Port Authority Bus Terminal starting and the Jersey City waterfront around

On Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule on all rail lines. Newark Light Rail and River Line will operate on a Sunday schedule.  Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule.  Holiday bus schedules vary by route—customers are advised to consult their timetable for holiday schedule or visit njtransit.com for details.

On Saturday, December 26 and Sunday, December 27, trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule on all lines with an additional train operating Sunday only on the Port Jervis Line. Newark Light Rail and River Line will operate on a Saturday and Sunday schedule respectively. Ridgewood NJ,  NJ TRANSIT will offer “early getaway” rail and bus service on Friday, September 4, for the benefit of customers leaving work early for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

On Friday, September 4, extra outbound trains will operate on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex and Port Jervis lines starting at approximately 1 p.m.  Extra buses will operate from the Port Authority Bus Terminal on more than a dozen bus routes starting around noon.  Visit njtransit.com for details.

On Labor Day, Monday, September 7, trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule on all lines.  Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule. Summer Savings

With summer winding down, there is still time to take advantage of NJ TRANSIT’s discounted travel packages to destinations including the Jersey Shore, Six Flags Great Adventure, Monmouth Park Racetrack and Wildwood and Cape May:

Beach Packages:  Save up to $6.50 on admission to one of five beaches— Long Branch, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach and Belmar—by purchasing round-trip train fare and a beach pass for one price at NJ TRANSIT ticket vending machines (choose “Special Promotions” and select “Beach Package”) or at ticket windows.  Customers can purchase the package for $31.50 from New York Penn Station or any station on the Main, Bergen County or Pascack Valley lines (except from Metro-North stations), and for $23.50 from Hoboken Terminal or Newark Penn Station.  Beach packages are now on sale daily through Labor Day, Monday, September 7.

Shore Express:  Enjoy a shorter trip and one-seat ride to the Jersey Shore with NJ TRANSIT’s express service, departing New York Penn Station at 9:01 a.m. and 10:01 a.m. and stopping at Secaucus Junction, Newark Penn Station, Elizabeth, Rahway, Aberdeen-Matawan, Red Bank, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, Belmar, Spring Lake, Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head without having to change trains in Long Branch.  Return trips will depart Bay Head at 4:54 p.m. and 6:54 p.m. This express service will operate on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through September 12, supplementing NJ TRANSIT’s hourly rail service between Long Branch and Bay Head.

Shore EZride Jitney provides shuttle service to beaches, shopping and dining locations from Long Branch Station.  NJ TRANSIT customers can ride the jitney for free with a coupon available on njtransit.com/shore.

Six Flags Great Adventure and Safari or Hurricane Harbor:  Save up to $35 by purchasing round-trip bus transportation and park admission together.
NJ TRANSIT provides express bus service to Six Flags from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York, Newark Penn Station, Philadelphia Greyhound Terminal, Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden, and from Freehold. Hurricane Harbor is open Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7.

Monmouth Park:  Board a train anywhere on NJ TRANSIT’s rail system and save $5.50 when you travel to Monmouth Park Racetrack.  Simply purchase a round-trip package to Monmouth Park from NJ TRANSIT ticket vending machines (choose “Special Promotions” and select “Monmouth Park Racetrack”) or at ticket windows, and receive Grandstand Admission and an official track program for $1 plus round-trip train fare.  Trains stop at Monmouth Park Station on weekends and holidays through September 27. Trains will also stop at the station for Friday racing on September 4.

Wildwood and Cape May: Express bus service continues through September 7 between Philadelphia, Wildwood and Cape May. Bus No. 316 departs from the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Philadelphia. Save up to 25 percent with a new promotional fare. A round-trip ticket at the promotional fare is $30 between Philadelphia and Wildwood and $33 between Philadelphia and Cape May.
