As more businesses continue to open, including indoor dining and movie theaters, we expect our roadways to experience increased traffic. Bayhead NJ, This weekend marks the unofficial end of the summer season, which means many will be on the roads enjoying the final days of sunshine and warm temperatures. Residents and tourists alike can expect increased traffic and congestion on our roadways and waterways this weekend. Responsible vehicle operation both on and off of the water is the first step to ensuring a safe holiday for everyone.
During the 2018 Labor Day holiday period, two of the seven fatal crashes in New Jersey involved impairment from alcohol or drugs as a contributing factor. If you plan on drinking alcohol this weekend, don’t make a bad decision by getting behind the wheel. Tragedies can be avoided by calling a taxi, using transportation applications such as Uber and Lyft, having a designated driver, or making plans to stay where you are.

Ridgewood NJ, there will offer “early getaway” rail and bus service on Friday, September 2, for the benefit of customers leaving work early for the Labor Day holiday weekend.
To help speed the getaway, customers are reminded that they can enjoy the convenience of purchasing tickets through the MyTix feature on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app.On Friday, September 2, extra outbound trains will operate on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex and Port Jervis lines starting at approximately 1 p.m. Extra buses will operate from the Port Authority Bus Terminal and the Hudson River Waterfront on more than two dozen bus routes starting around noon. Visit njtransit.com for details. All light rail systems will operate on regular weekday schedules.
REMINDER: Effective September 3, 2016 12 bus routes servicing the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York will have departure gate assignments changed. Selected routes will be changed as of Saturday, September 3rd with other routes being changed mainly during the weekday PM peak and evening hours as of Tuesday, September 6th. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the New Jersey State Department of Transportation advise that Route 17 at the Garden State Parkway (Paramus) will be closed in both directions on Friday morning, September 4th, from 12:01 a.m. until 4 a.m. due to the ongoing Garden State Parkway Interchange 163 Improvement Project.
The detour will be via Farview Avenue between Century Road and Midland Avenue in both directions.
There will be lane closures starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd, until 6 a.m. Friday morning, September 4th. Also, expect exit ramp closures on the parkway at Exit 163 in both directions during the full closure of Route 17.

Monmouth Park: Board a train anywhere on NJ TRANSIT’s rail system and save $5.50 when you travel to Monmouth Park Racetrack. Simply purchase a round-trip package to Monmouth Park from NJ TRANSIT ticket vending machines (choose “Special Promotions” and select “Monmouth Park Racetrack”) or at ticket windows, and receive Grandstand Admission and an official track program for $1 plus round-trip train fare. Trains stop at Monmouth Park Station on weekends and holidays through September 27. Trains will also stop at the station for Friday racing on September 4.
Wildwood and Cape May: Express bus service continues through September 7 between Philadelphia, Wildwood and Cape May. Bus No. 316 departs from the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Philadelphia. Save up to 25 percent with a new promotional fare. A round-trip ticket at the promotional fare is $30 between Philadelphia and Wildwood and $33 between Philadelphia and Cape May.
