Ridgewood Fire Department Responds to Village Street Sweeper Fluid Spill

Ridgewood NJ, A major leak of hydraulic fluid from a Village of Ridgewood street sweeper required the services of Ridgewood Fire department personnel on Monday morning, 08/14. The leak occurred on the street adjacent to 210 Greenway Road, Ridgewood. FD personnel from Engine Company #31 and Rescue Company #42 applied absorbent materials to the roadway; Ridgewood Police provided traffic control during the incident. No injuries were reported.

Ridgewood NJ,Ridgewood Fire Department personnel responded to a fluid spill that occurred when the front undercarriage of a Village of Ridgewood sanitation truck hit a tree stump at the intersection of Sherman Place and Washington Place in Ridgewood on Friday morning, 08/11. No injuries were reported in the crash, but the sanitation vehicle was disabled until repairs were made. Quick action by Fire Dedpartment personnel prevented the leaking fluid from reaching any storm drain inlets. Ridgewood Police responded to gather information for a crash report.

HazMat Called In to Clean Up Fluid Spill in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, A large quantity of hydraulic fluid entered a storm drain in Ridgewood following an early morning motor vehicle crash on Thursday, 06/01. The liquid found its way to the nearby Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and flowed south into neighboring Glen Rock before being noticed by a woman walking her dog. Fire departments from Ridgewood, Glen Rock, and Fair Lawn, along with the Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue Squad’s HazMat unit, were dispatched to address the situation under the guidance of the Bergen County HazMat unit. A uniformed officer from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division also responded due to the proximity of the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook to a Bergen County Park in Glen Rock. Ridgewood PD and Glen Rock PD officers also assisted during the incident.

Ridgewood Police and Fire Make Quick Work of Fluid Spill on South Maple

Ridgewood NJ, a vehicle that had just been returned to its owner after having been repaired by a local auto body shop dropped all of its automatic transmission fluid in the travel lane on the southbound side of South Maple Avenue near Prospect Street, Ridgewood on Thursday afternoon, 12/22. Ridgewood FD personnel applied an absorbent material to the roadway and ensured that no fire hazard was present in the vehicle. Ridgewood PD officers provided traffic control during the incident. A tow truck was summoned to return the vehicle to the auto body shop

Fluid Spill at Village of Ridgewood Recycling Center Brings in Hazmat Team

Ridgewood NJ, A voluminous spill of hydraulic fluid at 205 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood (Village of Ridgewood Recycling Center) required the response of trained personnel from Ridgewood FD and the Bergen County Department of Health Services Hazmat team on Thursday afternoon, 10/27. No injuries were reported in the mishap. Ridgewood PD also responded.
