Ridgewood NJ, as previously reported Rafael Ramos a Mailman from Midland Park stood quietly in a Bergen County courtroom Friday after pleading guilty in  the 2018 roadway death of Edward Rao, a Ridgewood real estate agent.

Ramos will serve less than a year of jail time and he can return to his job as a postal worker following a fatal 2018 hit-and-run . The Court found Ramos guilty of hitting and killing 54-year-old Edward Rao with his car in September 2018. But the court said Ramos could keep his job as a postal worker during the day and return to jail at night.

Reportedly Ramos returned to the scene and spoke with police after the accident, but he did not mention that he hit Rao. County detectives arrested him five days later after finding a piece of his car at the scene and video footage of his car leaving the accident site.
