Tenafly NJ, during a vigil in Tenafly on Wednesday night ,Edan Alexander’s family appealed for the release of their son, who, along with over 200 other Israeli and American Jews, is being held hostage by Hamas. Edan, a 19-year-old born in Tel Aviv and raised in New Jersey, was serving with the Israel Defense Forces near the Gaza Strip when Hamas launched an unprecedented assault on Oct. 7. The Israeli-American Council of New Jersey organized an event where several hundred people gathered to support the Tenafly High School graduate and his family. At the vigil, Alexander’s parents and siblings spoke about his resilience and sense of humor. While the family has been informed that he is alive and being held in Gaza, they have no additional information. Edan’s sister, Mika Alexander, expressed the profound impact of his absence, stating, “It just feels like my best friend was taken away from me.” To date, Hamas has released four hostages, and the Israeli army successfully rescued one hostage in a special operation. On Thursday, the White House announced that Israel has agreed to pause military operations in parts of northern Gaza for four-hour periods each day, allowing Palestinians to flee south and receive aid.

FBI Director: US at High Risk of HAMAS-Inspired Terror Attacks

Washington DC, nice to see the FBI focusing on the “bad guys” . FBI Director Christopher Wray warned Oct. 31 that the U.S. is at significant risk for a HAMAS-inspired homegrown violent extremist terrorist attack. The warning follows the Oct. 7 terrorist group’s attack on Israel. FBI intelligence analysts assessed that lone actors will be inspired by or react to the ongoing Middle East conflict. These individuals or small groups pose the most likely threat to Americans, especially Jewish, Muslim and Arab communities in the U.S. “The actions of HAMAS and its allies will serve as an inspiration the likes of which we haven’t seen since ISIS launched its so-called caliphate several years ago,” Wray told the U.S. Senate’s Homeland Security Committee during a recent hearing on worldwide threats. In just the past few weeks, multiple foreign terrorist organizations, including ISIS and al-Qa’ida, have called for attacks against Americans and the West. While the terrorism threat level has remained elevated throughout 2023, Wray said the Israel-HAMAS conflict has raised the threat of an attack against Americans in the U.S. to a “whole ‘nother level.” He noted that there’s no information indicating HAMAS’s intent or the group’s capability to attack the U.S. but said it’s a possibility that cannot be discounted.

NJ Man Admits Hiding Attempts to Provide Support to HAMAS

Jonathan Xie

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Basking Ridge NJ, A Basking Ridge (Somerset County) resident faces up to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty on September 15 to concealing attempts to provide material support to HAMAS. Court documents indicated Jonathan Xie, 21, hid details about his efforts to offer support and resources to the foreign terrorist organization, admitting he believed he was aiding the group in committing violence. In December 2018, Xie sent $100 to an individual in Gaza he believed was part of a HAMAS faction that has conducted attacks, posting about it on social media. About four months later, a man wearing a black ski mask later identified as Xie claimed in a video online that “he was against Zionism and the neo-liberal establishment,” according to prosecutors. He said he would join HAMAS if he could find a way, displayed the group’s flag and a handgun, and expressed he would shoot everybody at a pro-Israel march. Also in April 2019, Xie sent an undercover FBI employee a link to a website of the HAMAS faction he previously donated money to. He provided screenshots of the website and demonstrated how to send bitcoin through it. Xie could also be fined $250,000 when sentenced on January 27.

Christie: Hamas-Linked Mosque “Not Radical Jihadists”
Posted on February 5, 2016

Clarion Project, by Ryan Mauro, Feb. 4, 2016:

GOP presidential candidate New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is still praising a Hamas-linked mosque in his state, saying, “The folks in the local mosque in Paterson, the ones I interact with, they are not radical Islamic jihadists.” He is referring to the Islamic Center of Passaic County—and he’s praised its imam for years even though the Department of Homeland Security is seeking his deportation for his links to Hamas.

You can read our profile of the mosque and its leadership, including Imam Mohammad Qatanani, here.

He was arrested and convicted by Israel for his links to Hamas and then went to NJ to help lead a mosque founded and led by Mohammed El-Mezain, a Hamas operative sentenced to 15 years in prison for financing the terrorist group. El-Mezain was also the chairman of the Holy Land Foundation, which was shut down for being a Muslim Brothehood/Hamas front.

Obama’s Brother Joins Hamas, Says ‘Jerusalem Is Ours; We Are Coming’

by Shoebat Foundation on January 28, 2014 in Malik Obama

By Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrack

While in Sanaa, Yemein in 2010, President Barack Obama’s brother Malik Obama was at an event billed as the Orphans Development Fund (ODF) Conference. It’s quite the ironic title considering a group photo Malik is in that he has posted to his website. In the photo, he can be seen wearing a Hamas scarf (keffiyeh) that bears a well-known Palestinian slogan – ‘Jerusalem is ours – WE ARE COMING!’ It also includes a map of Palestine that says, ‘From the River to the Sea!’ In other words, Malik is saying, THERE IS NO ISRAEL.

Here is Malik Obama’s boss (Malik works for him officially in his capacity as IDO Executive Secretary), Suar al-Dahab during a visit to Gaza last year at a Hamas event with the group’s Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Notice he’s wearing a similar keffiyeh at a conference entitled, ‘Aiding Jerusalem and Gaza”:

Here is Malik in 2010, with al-Dahab in Khartoum, Sudan during the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO) conference, presided over by Sudan’s terrorist leader Omar al-Bashir, who belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood and is wanted for crimes against humanity:

CAIR Picks Hamas-Linked Official to Lead NJ Chapter

CAIR will continue to offer itself as the voice of the Muslim community. The media and public shouldn’t forget their Islamist ideology.

The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has a new Executive Director: Mohamed El-Filali. His previous position was as the Executive Director of a large Hamas-linked mosque where he worked since 2004.

El-Filali is from the Islamic Center of Passaic County, whose imam is being targeted by the Department of Homeland Security for deportation. El-Filali was also listed as an official of the American Muslim Union in 2002. He has been quoted  as comparing the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to Adolf Hitler. He has also refused to condemn suicide bombings, saying, “I am not in their shoes. My house has not been destroyed; my brother has not been shot dead.”

El-Filali’s mosque was founded by Hamas operative Mohammad El-Mezain, who was convicted in 2008 for financing the terrorist group. El-Mezain was a leader of the mosque until 1999.

In 1990, a Muslim Brotherhood operative named Muhammad al-Hanooti became the mosque’s imam. He led the Islamic Association for Palestine, a known Brotherhood/Hamas front. A 2001 FBI document reported that al-Hanooti was suspected of fundraising for Hamas. He left the Islamic Center of Passaic County in 1995 to leadDar al-Hijrah Islamic Center, another mosque with strong Brotherhood/Hamas links.

Former Professor Highlights a Little-Reported Fact About Gaza and 3 Moral Questions It Raises

Former Professor Highlights a Little-Reported Fact About Gaza and 3 Moral Questions It Raises
By Michael Hausam 16 hours ago

In an article yesterday, former Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz made a point about the ongoing Hamas attacks on Israel that is rarely covered in the media.

Despite the often-heard statement that the Gaza Strip is “densely populated” – a point repeatedly used to explain why Hamas fires rockets from busy civilian areas – the reality is that there are indeed parts of Gaza that are thinly populated. Take a look at this map:

The three moral questions that Dershowitz poses based upon this fact:

“Why don’t the media show the relatively open areas of the Gaza Strip?” He then poses a couple of answers. Firstly, it would reveal that Hamas could befiring rockets and building tunnels in these areas but has chosen not to. Or that Hamas won’t let the media access those areas. In either case, it would be something worth reporting.

“Why doesn’t Hamas use sparsely populated areas from which to launch its rockets and build its tunnels?” The answer here is crystal clear: Palestinian civilian casualties would decrease dramatically but the death of terrorist would do the opposite. Hamas uses civilians as shields – which their own battle manual mandates, completely the opposite of Israel. Simply put, this is a war crime and Hamas is therefore responsible for its own civilian deaths.

“Why does the United Nations try to shelter Palestinian civilians right in the middle of the areas from which Hamas is firing?” Why not use the sparsely populated areas for refuge? The result of this would be to deny Hamas the ability to use civilians as shields and lead to a dramatic reduction in the deaths of civilians. By not doing so, the UN supports precisely what Hamas intends: to force Israel to attack areas where UN-protected civilians are.

New Evidence Exposes Hamas Passing Off Terrorist Deaths As Civilian Deaths

New Evidence Exposes Hamas Passing Off Terrorist Deaths As Civilian Deaths

IN NEWS, POLITICS, WORLD NEWS / BY SEAN BROWN / ON AUGUST 5, 2014 AT 2:49 PM /

It’s been widely reported that the majority of the deaths in the Gaza Strip have been civilians, with figures from Palestinian officials saying that 80% of the roughly 2,000 deaths during Operation Protective Edge have been non-combatants. However, Israel is now claiming they have proof that at least half of the people who have died were militants.

“There is research being done in the military, very professionally and reliably, (whose) conclusion is that at least 47% of the fatalities are terrorists, with photographs and names,” prominent former politician Tzachi Hanegbi said.

Hanegbi was speaking on Israel’s Channel Two Television about how their analysis of the death toll is far different from what the UN is reporting. He explained that Hamas fails to differentiate between civilian and militant deaths.

An analyst for the pro-Israel group The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA), Steven Sotsky, backed that claim, pointing out that there’s a disproportionate amount of Palestinian deaths with men aged 17-30. Sotsky said that while that age range for men only accounts for 10% of the total Palestinian population, it accounts for 44% of the fatalities thus far.

According to Sotsky, that trend wouldn’t exist if Israel were indiscriminately bombing civilians:

“Analyses of the casualties listed in the daily reports published by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, a Gaza-based organization operating under Hamas rule, indicate that young males ages 17 to 30 make up a large portion of the fatalities, and a particularly noticeable spike occurs between males ages 21 to 27, a pattern consistent with the age distribution typically found among combatants and military conscripts.”

He details his analysis further by saying, “Data gleaned from the daily reports of the PCHR show that from July 8, the start of Israel’s ‘Operation Protective Edge,’ through July 26, 404 out of 915 fatalities tallied from daily reports in which the ages were identified occurred among males ages 17 to 30, comprising 44% of all fatalities among a group representing about 10% of Gazans.”

Sotsky then notes that while females make up 25% of the population they only account for 10% of the casualties, and children make up 50% of the population but only account for 20% of the casualties.

Why Does the US Media Support Palestinian Terrorists?

Why Does the US Media Support Palestinian Terrorists?
July 29, 2014 by Chip Wood

What on Earth is so wrong with the mainstream media in the United States that it can somehow find “equivalency” between the terroristic assaults Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip have ordered against Israel and what that beleaguered country is doing to defend itself?

And in many cases, the hand-wringing, condescending blowhards in our media don’t just blame both sides equally. No, they’ve somehow decided that Israel is the real culprit in the case.

But it is not Israel that is using its civilians, including children, as a human shield for waging war. It is not Israel that has hidden its rockets and mortars in schools, hospitals and civilian homes — and then ordered civilians not to leave the area.

It is not Israel that uses ambulances to disguise its armed combatants, as it moves them from place to place.

It is not Israel that has built dozens of tunnels under the border between the two areas and that uses them to transport weapons of war. Israeli forces have even captured Hamas infiltrators emerging from a tunnel carrying tranquilizers and handcuffs. Apparently, they were hoping to kidnap some Israeli civilians or soldiers, so they could demand another prisoner exchange. (Back in 2011, Israel agreed to trade 1,000 Palestinian prisoners for Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier who had been kidnapped by Hamas.)

On Sunday, Hamas said it would extend a temporary cease-fire that both sides agreed to on Saturday for another 24 hours. But later that afternoon, it resumed firing rockets into Israel, claiming that Israel demonstrated “a lack of commitment” to the cease-fire.

I think you’ll agree that it’s hard to show a commitment to peace when rockets are raining down on you. The Israeli Defense Forces said in a statement: “Following Hamas’ incessant rocket fire throughout the humanitarian window, which was agreed upon for the welfare of the civilian population in Gaza, the IDF will now resume its aerial, naval and ground activity in the Gaza Strip.”

Thus far, Israeli authorities say that Hamas has launched more than 2,200 rocket attacks against them. Happily, most of them have been stopped by Israel’s very sophisticated Iron Dome defense system. Still, rocket attacks are a constant danger in the country.
