Washington DC, Progressives embrace anti-semitism . A vote on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism in response to controversial comments by Rep. Ilhan Omar is being put off amid intensifying pressure from progressives both inside and outside the House Democratic Caucus.
An array of progressive groups declared their support for Omar, while both the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Progressive Caucus — two of the most important factions among House Democrats — wanted more time to review the situation, lawmakers and aides said.
Bergen county has seen a significant up tick in anti-semitism , including events in the Village of Ridgewood and Ridgewood Schools.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), one of the first two Muslim members of Congress, persists in her anti-Israel, anti-Semitic statements, even after condemnations from leading Congressional Democrats, questions are being asked about the party’s inability to take real action against the freshman firebrand.
Some of those concerns are even coming from Jews in Israel. David Rubin, American-Israeli political commentator and author of “Trump and the Jews”, has been tracking those concerns, pointing out that, “American Jews and Israelis are used to hearing the bombastic statements of anti-Semites who use Israel to get at the Jews, and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is no exception.”
Rubin added, “What is especially troubling, however, is the impotence of leading Democrats, in confronting such provocative news voices in their party. Why, for instance, given her harsh views about Israel and Jews, does Omar continue to sit on the House Foreign Affairs Committee? What are the Democrat leaders afraid of? Last, but not least, are the Dems, with their inaction, abandoning their strong base of Jewish supporters?”

RIDGEWOOD NJ, Noted Muslim scholar Imam Zaid Shakir will deliver remarks addressing the theme, “Together in Hope,” as The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee of Ridgewood and Glen Rock marks the 35th year of its annual celebration of Dr. King’s life and legacy. Sounds nice but what does Islam have to do with Martin Luther King Day and the struggles of black Americans to gain equality ?
The community is invited to attend this free event, which will take place on Monday, January 16 at the Ridgewood United Methodist Church, 100 Dayton St., in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
We are told ; Imam Zaid Shakir, widely regarded as one of the most influential Muslim scholars in the West, will be the guest speaker during an interfaith worship service beginning at 10 a.m. The morning service will be followed by an outdoor rally at 11:30 a.m. and a community lunch at 12:15 p.m. The program will also feature Ridgewood and Glen Rock student speakers and musical performances by the Indian Hills Chamber Choir and Men of Umoja chorus.
“Imam Zaid Shakir is a highly respected voice on Islam and African-American issues and a leader in the emergence of a uniquely western Islamic tradition,” said committee co-chair Alice Newton. “At a time when civil rights issues dominate the headlines, we welcome his insights and inspiration as we share Dr. King’s hopeful message of finding common ground and working together to create positive change.”
A native of Berkeley, California, Imam Zaid Shakir is co-founder, trustee and a faculty member of Zaytuna College, the first Muslim liberal arts college in the United States. He accepted Islam in 1977 while serving in the United States Air Force, and co-founded and served as Imam of Masjid al-Islam in New Haven, Connecticut from 1988 to 1994. He was also an adjunct professor of Political Science and Arabic at Southern Connecticut State University until his departure for Syria to further his studies in the traditional Islamic sciences. Imam Zaid Shakir returned to the U.S. in 2001 and later moved back to California, where he co-founded Zaytuna College in Berkeley in 2009. He is a writer and a sought-after lecturer on African-American issues and Islam in the American context.
A little research turns up some interesting side notes ; Shakir, 54, was born Ricky Mitchell. He converted to Islam in 1977 while serving in the U.S. Air Force. A Berkeley native, he graduated from American University and received a master’s in political science from Rutgers University, where he says he was active in South African divestment campaigns.https://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/501.pdf
An examination of Shakir’s writings and speeches, however, shows a man prone to conspiracy theories that veer toward extremism. Though his speaking style often is elliptical and rambling, and many of his points are not clearly defined, Shakir expresses doubts about who was responsible for 9/11 and other terrorist attacks. He defends terrorist groups such as Hizballah and hopes for a day in which America is a Muslim country ruled by Islamic law. Shakir also has a long record of portraying the United States as an evil force in world affairs. American society “is sinful and constitutes open rebellion against Allah,” he says.10 Shakir also suggests that Muslims could “take over” the United States if they were better organized.https://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/501.pdf
Shakir has questioned whether Muslims bombed the World Trade Center in 1993, and raises questions about the official 9/11 narrative. He emphatically argues that 9/11 has been used as a pretext to target Islam in America.https://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/501.pdf
In his writings and speeches, Shakir often depicts the United States as an evil force in world affairs. It is a nation born through genocide that wages wanton slaughter during wartime. “I believe that the U.S. war machine is the single greatest threat to world peace,” he wrote in November 2009. And on numerous occasions, Shakir suggests that there is no moral difference between terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian deaths resulting from U.S. military actions such as World War II and the current conflict in Afghanistan. https://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/501.pdf
Not the way we would be honoring Doctor Martin Luther King . Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and activist who was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs
The annual Ridgewood/Glen Rock Martin Luther King Jr. celebration began in 1983 in an effort to unite area residents, regardless of faith or ethnic background, in worship and action as they work towards peace and justice for all. More than 20 religious groups, local government and civic organizations participate in and support the event each year. Has terror-tied CAIR accused the police of violating this devout Muslim’s religious rights? Islamic Jew-hatred — it’s in the Qur’an.
Imagine if a non-Muslim did this to a mosque: the perp would be jailed for life.

MIDLAND PARK – A prominent Muslim civil rights group (CAIR) is calling for the FBI to investigate an “act of hatred” in which someone carved a swastika into a wooden sign outside an Irving Street mosque on Memorial Day.
The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a statement Tuesday asking the FBI to investigate the carving of the 10-inch swastika and images of “male genitalia,” that appeared on the sign outside the Elzahra Islamic Center.
“These types of incidents should be investigated within the context of the rising level of Islamophobic sentiment in our society and treated with the seriousness they deserve,” said Nadia Kahf, the council’s board chairwoman, in a statement. “Public officials and interfaith leaders should speak out against acts of hatred and intolerance whenever they occur.”
Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director for the organization, said it was “incumbent” upon the FBI to look into the vandalism.
“If we were talking about just an isolated incident in a small community in New Jersey, that’s one thing. But unfortunately, we’re seeing a real spike in these kinds of incidents nationwide,” he said. “We see this incident as possibly part of that disturbing pattern.”
A spokeswoman for the FBI’s Newark field office said the bureau wasn’t involved in the investigation, and said it “looks like it’s being handled locally.”
The vandalism is being handled as a bias crime by borough detectives, meaning stiffer penalties could apply for whomever is apprehended and convicted, police Chief Michael Powderley said.
Finally! CAIR, Muslim American Society branded ‘terrorist’ by an American Arab ally
The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has a new Executive Director: Mohamed El-Filali. His previous position was as the Executive Director of a large Hamas-linked mosque where he worked since 2004.

CAIR Picks Hamas-Linked Official to Lead NJ Chapter
CAIR will continue to offer itself as the voice of the Muslim community. The media and public shouldn’t forget their Islamist ideology.
The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has a new Executive Director: Mohamed El-Filali. His previous position was as the Executive Director of a large Hamas-linked mosque where he worked since 2004.
El-Filali is from the Islamic Center of Passaic County, whose imam is being targeted by the Department of Homeland Security for deportation. El-Filali was also listed as an official of the American Muslim Union in 2002. He has been quoted as comparing the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to Adolf Hitler. He has also refused to condemn suicide bombings, saying, “I am not in their shoes. My house has not been destroyed; my brother has not been shot dead.”
El-Filali’s mosque was founded by Hamas operative Mohammad El-Mezain, who was convicted in 2008 for financing the terrorist group. El-Mezain was a leader of the mosque until 1999.
In 1990, a Muslim Brotherhood operative named Muhammad al-Hanooti became the mosque’s imam. He led the Islamic Association for Palestine, a known Brotherhood/Hamas front. A 2001 FBI document reported that al-Hanooti was suspected of fundraising for Hamas. He left the Islamic Center of Passaic County in 1995 to leadDar al-Hijrah Islamic Center, another mosque with strong Brotherhood/Hamas links.

Megyn Kelly Declares CAIR Is ‘Not Getting’ a Retraction for Covering Film on Islamic Women
By Randy Hall | April 4, 2014 | 22:33
On Tuesday, the host of The Kelly File on the Fox News Channel discussed Honor Diaries, a documentary intended to depict the “systematic, institutionalized misogyny against Muslim women around the world.”
The first segment aired on Monday and drew a demand for an apology from the Council of American-Islamic Relations. Twenty-four hours later, Megyn Kelly told CAIR: “Well, guess what — you’re not getting it.”
She made that remark during another segment discussing the film on Tuesday with two guests: Agnieszka Karoluk, senior communications coordinator for CAIR-Chicago; and human rights attorney Brooke Goldstein, whom Kelly stated “first brought this issue to our attention.”
Kelly began the discussion by stating there’s “a growing backlash tonight over a film that is trying to bring attention to the so-called ‘honor violence’ inflicted on Muslim women around the world.”
“The film is called Honor Diaries,” she noted, “and while it has been shown dozens of times on U.S. college campuses — not to mention at the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva — several U.S. universities have postponed or flat out-and-out canceled screenings of the film” after groups like CAIR complained that the documentary is “Islamophobic.”
The Fox News host then showed a clip of the film in which the female narrator stated that in Muslim-majority societies, the system “is really the basis of a lot of harm that is perpetuated against women.”
Kelly then asked Karoluk: “Why would CAIR want to silence this film?”
