Paramus NJ, Barnes & Noble in Paramus has announced the official opening date for its new location. The bookstore will open its doors on Black Friday, November 24th, at 634 Route 17 North. This reopening comes eight months after the closure of its former location, which had been in operation for 30 years. The ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. will be attended by Joseph Simmons, also known as DJ Run from Run-DMC, and Harlan Coben, an author and Ridgewood resident. Janine Flanigan, the chain’s senior director of store planning & design, confirmed the date and mentioned that the new one-story space, spanning 35,000 square feet, will be comparable to the previous two-story building located just a mile to the north on Route 17.

The Ridgewood News
New York Times bestselling author and Ridgewood resident Harlan Coben is certainly no “stranger” to the Ridgewood community.
Although his latest novel, “The Stranger” will be released on March 24, Ridgewood residents will be among the lucky few to be able to purchase the book a day before everyone else. Coben will hold a kickoff appearance for his book tour at 7 p.m.. on Monday, March 23 at Bookends, 211 East Ridgewood Ave.
In this page-turning thriller, the plot centers around a suburban New Jersey family whose picturesque life is threatened by a mysterious man. Once protagonist Adam Price learns a secret about his wife Corinne from the unknown man, he is led to a much darker situation than the secret itself. He discovers that if he doesn’t play his cards exactly right, lives may not only be destroyed, but ended.
Coben’s novels capture relatable situations and characters but surprise readers with twists and turns that keep them guessing for what’s to come.

The first character the reader meets in Harlan Coben’s new novel is none other than Kat Donovan.
A shout out, perhaps, to a well-known local politician?
Ridgewood resident Harlan Coben will release his new novel, “Missing You,” on Tuesday, March 18. Coben will sign copies of “Missing You” during an appearance at Bookends scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
Strike that thought.
Known for his penchant to include people and places from close to home, Coben insists that it is a mere coincidence the protagonist in “Missing You,” which officially hits bookstore shelves March 18, shares a similar name with the Bergen County executive. And as one proceeds deeper and deeper into the thriller, Coben’s assertion becomes strikingly true.
For starters, Kathleen Donovan is the head of Bergen’s executive branch of government. Kat Donovan, as the reader quickly discovers, is involved in law enforcement, a detective with the New York City Police Department who is haunted, almost equally, by the uncertain truths behind her father’s murder and the mysterious past and whereabouts of an ex-fiancé.
