Ridgewood NJ, Friends of the Ridgewood Library invites you to join us for ‘Breakfast with Friends’ on Wed., Oct. 11, 9-10am in the Ridgewood Library’s auditorium. Learn more about who we are & how you can get involved in supporting your local library. Stop by after school drop-off and feel free to bring your littlest ones with you. Coffee & pastries will be served. All are welcome to stay for the monthly meeting following breakfast.

Retiring Ridgewood Library Director Nancy Greene Honored

Ridgewood NJ, the Village Council honored Ridgewood Library Director Nancy Greene with a proclamation  that declared December 14th, Nancy Greene Day in the Village of Ridgewood, in honor of the library director’s upcoming retirement. Greene announced her retirement as of January 1st after dedicating 27 years of service to what is often ranked as the best public library in Bergen County .

Ridgewood Library Reimagine ,”has no clear vision. It’s on a funding grab”

 Resident Steve Kim said in the group “It takes a Ridgewood Village ”  on comments he made at the Wednesday nights Village Council Meeting about proper planning  :

“My public comment regards to the Library at the Village Council meeting last evening. Because Library didn’t do proper planning and needs analysis, it has no clear vision. It’s on a funding grab. I’m personally confused as to what it’s doing. It can update the place, but why gut renovate to essentially offer the same services as now? I hope the Village doesn’t get stuck funding unnecessary projects…”

Friends of the Ridgewood Library Omits From Fund raising Letter it is allocating $25,000 to the Library Reimagine facility project

Ridgewood NJ, Friends of the Ridgewood Library is allocating $25,000 to the Library Reimagine facility project, the $7.7 million and 18 month renovation. Nowhere in the letter from Friend does it mention facility renovation as a possible category of allocation.

Oh, and reserve funds should also not be allocated as private donation. When public funds or donations are taken, there are strict obligations to follow the intent as indicated.

Friends of the Ridgewood Library Thanked its 2019 Annual Appeal Donors with a Sushi-themed Cocktail Hour

Ridgewood NJ, On Friday evening, Friends of the Ridgewood Library thanked its 2019 Annual Appeal donors with a sushi-themed cocktail hour, live music, a documentary screening of Jiro Dreams of Sushi, and discussion with a professor of Japanese studies from Montclair State University. The Library offered many thanks to the Annual Appeal donors, as well as the generous local establishments that donated food and also offered this Fun Fact: this annual event is one of the very few times you can sip cocktails at the library!
