Ridgewood NJ, the Teacher Spotlight from this week’s RHS Weekly View featured  Mr. Luckenbill is in his 10th year of teaching at RHS, where he teaches Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Music Production. He also runs the RHS Recording Studio and is the Director of the RHS Brass Ensemble and RHS Marching Band. Mr. Luckenbill received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Michigan State University in the spring of 2011, and his Master of Music in Music Education from Kent State University in the spring of 2016. In 2016, Mr. Luckenbill was named a Positive Coaching Alliance “Double Goal Coach Award” winner (1 of only 50 in the United States) for his work with the marching band. The award is given to coaches who strive to win while also teaching life lessons through their activity.

Ridgewood NJ, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is producing a 50th anniversary documentary that will include an excerpt of the performance video of the Ridgewood High School Percussion Ensemble from the 2019 Young Musicians New Jersey Regional Concert. The video will be used under a voice-over by Executive Director Suzanne Davidson describing the Young Musicians Program. The student performers, Percussion Ensemble Director Gary Fink, RHS Principal Dr. Gorman, and Ridgewood High School will be acknowledged in the video.

Ridgewood NJ, Kieran Corcoran, a saxophonist from Ridgewood, New Jersey, has been named as the recipient of the 2020 Roland L. Meyer Scholarship Award by the Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus (Orpheus).

Corcoran, a senior at Ridgewood High School, is the woodwind captain of the school’s marching band, and president of the band council. He has played in the concert band, wind ensemble, big band, saxophone ensemble, and pit orchestra at the school. He also has served as a music mentor and district band member.

He was theformer lead singer of the late 60s NJ Soul group “Epitome of Sound” whose single “You Don’t Love Me” holds the distinction of being one of the top 10 Northern Soul records of all time.
